58,586,256 Americans have lost their lives due to abortion since 1973. There are 1.1 million abortions in the US every year. Abortion should be illegal in the United States because this procedure causes psychological pain and stress in women, along with other medical complications later in life. The women who choose abortion are mostly minors who don’t understand what they are doing and usually have regrets.
Abortion can easily result in medical complications later in life. Having an abortion can cause women to have a higher chance of miscarrying. It could also cause pelvic inflammatory disease. Since abortion has been legal, hundreds of women have been killed by the procedure. In 2013, The American College of Pediatricians came out with a study that linked breast cancer to abortions. It’s a form of post- traumatic stress disorder. Women typically have anxiety and feel guilty after the procedure. Some of those women even have thoughts of suicide. In the United States, there are over 2,000 Pregnancy Resource Centers that give help to unexpecting mothers. A lot of those centers will give the mothers free ultrasounds. Those centers say that ninety percent of women who see the ultrasound, will end up changing their minds about having an abortion. However, abortion is not murder. A fetus doesn’t have the necessary system to feel pain until twenty- six weeks. The majority of abortions are within the first twelve weeks of the pregnancy.
