Hunter laughs as he takes down his plaques and pictures and packing them into boxes. His whole career is disseminated down into three cardboard boxes. The walls are bare as he looks around sadly he then straighten his desk and gazes at the chair he’s occupied for so long. Who will be looking up from behind it tomorrow? Armstrong hadn’t given him a clue as to his replacement. He switches off the lights and hoists two of the boxes up from the desk as Sam carries the third. With her free arm, she closes the door behind them. They walk down the empty hall not saying a word and get into the elevator. “Are you going to stay on as an assistant to my replacement?” asks Hunter “No I have had my fill of the Pentagon I put in for a transfer to London …show more content…

Hunter swerves back and forth as being buffeted relentlessly as the car slams into him over and over again. They are trying to kill him! He had been in rough spots before but he had been a younger man. Training kicking in he speeds up trying to get away. But the other car is right on him matching his speed. The other vehicle is much larger and SUV of some sort not what he had seen earlier which had been more of a sedan. Trying to make it out in the darkness he hears the telltale sound of the shifting gears on a high wheel base, it’s a Military HUMVEE! Those things were designed for pursuit and heavily armored it could easily crush Hunter's car. It revs its engine and pushes him into the guard rail. The scraping of metal causing sparks to fly as it grinds in a long sloping death grip caught between it and the HUMVEE. Hunter struggles with the wheel trying to get out of his situation, the HUMVEE backs up a little to gain some speed and ram him again. Hunter seizes the opportunity and tries to scoot away, but the damage to his rear axle presents that. One more slam by the giant car the guard rail starts to shred in splinters of metal weakening from age and the constant pounding. Hunter feels it giving away and loosens his seat belt preparing for the worst. Wham! Again, Oh no this is it. Another crunch the steel rail buckles and finally falls away. Hunter cries out “Annie I’m coming home!” One last thrust by the HUMVEE and it sends Hunter and his car over the edge. He prays as he jumps from the car seeing the river rushing up at
