Legend is the first novel of the self named trilogy by Marie Lu. Legend is a fast paced,dystopian story about 2 teenagers, a wanted criminal named Day and a Republic prodigy named June. Day is accused of killing June’s brother,Metias and June wants to have revenge on Day. Legend has many themes but the most important ones are Rich versus Poor,The Law,Betrayal,and Family. This literary analysis of Legend reveals the theme that Foreshadowing,Symbolism and Setting shows to be most effective. The first literary element that Marie Lu used effectively is in “Legend” is foreshadowing. One example of the foreshadowing used in “Legend” is the sea daisies and how the flower wilted when Day goes to save his family. The Sea daisies represents Day’s mom and how his mom loved them so he take care of them. This example reveals that Day’s mother is going to get hurt aka she gets shot and dies. Another example of the foreshadowing in “Legend” is when June has flashback to Metias’ opening ceremony and he ditched it to take care of June and says “Forever and ever,kid,until you’re and tired of seeing me.” This example represents Metias brotherly love for June. This example reveals that Metias dies and he leaves June that he promised. These examples reveals the theme of Family. …show more content…
