A Comparison of Sympathy by P.L. Dunbar and an Article on RSPCS Web Page
The purpose of this is to analyze the methods used by the writers of
both texts, in order to compare one from the other.
To begin, I want to name the different types of texts that I am
comparing.
‘’Sympathy’’ P.L. Dunbar is a poetic text while the article of the
RSPCA web page is simply just an informative article.
Although both texts have similar ideas about their content, ‘’Cruelty
to animals”, their purpose and audience aim differ from one to the
other.
Whilst ‘’Sympathy’’ is aimed at people who enjoy reading poetry, it
also uses some language that its not commonly used now days such as
“alas,” which only tell us that it most be something old, classical,
used long time ago.
However, the RSPCA article, I would say is aimed, first of all to
people that have Internet access, and secondly, to people who may be

In this paper I will be discussing George P. Fletcher’s “paradigm of reciprocity”. I will discuss what two issues the paradigm specifies and how they are treated by the paradigm. I will assess how the treatment of the issue is different from that of the wealth maximization approach. I will also look at how the paradigm makes sense of both fault and strict liability. One text in particular, The Things They Carried by Tim O’Brien, had a strong influence on my emotions and moved me to tears with just one page. In conclusion, the ASPCA is a significant, charitable organization that has taken a powerful stance towards anti-cruelty of all animals. Dating back to the 1860's and continuing to thrive today with new programs that reach out to community leaders, businesses, and lawmakers, all for the abandonment of cruel actions towards animals. Accolades to Henry Bergh for his diligence towards establishing laws to protect animals against violence, and more importantly for raising awareness of animal abuse, and the misuse of breeding. The ASPCA is a worthy cause, and its mission is valuable to all animal lovers in our nation.
