The novella A Christmas Carol written by Charles Dickens, is a classic book . The story is well known to every country and almost every generation has heard of it. The story is something that just warms our hearts during the holidays and makes us appreciate what’s important in our lives. The word carol is extremely important in the novella because it’s used throughout the book and is also a part of the title. Carol has many different definitions and is also even used as a boy or girl name. According to Webster’s dictionary the word can be used as a noun or a verb which means a religious folk song or popular hymn, particularly one associated with Christmas or to sing or to say something happily. So the word carol is going to almost always be a part of anything dealing with Christmas and describing anything cheerful and joyous. Just the word carol its self describes what’s going to come in the book, so it is perfect for being a part of the title of the novella The Christmas Carol.

In the hit sitcom That’s So Raven the Christmas special Throughout the entire episode Raven’s mother is trying to get everyone to join in on Christmas caroling to spread the Christmas cheer to everyone around the neighborhood since everyone is so grumpy and not in the Christmas spirit . Carol is associated with joy and happiness in this particular episode.
One very famous family favorite movie, The Grinch, uses the word in quite a few scenes. The Grinch You can say is a very mean and bitter character. The poet is asking God what can they do for him even though they are poor and have very little to give. Rossetti speaks on how God is extremely powerful and loving.
Carol has many different meanings and they are all similar to each other. When you see or hear the word carol, you automatically assume it is dealing with a religious and joyful song or hymn. The word has been around for centuries and is most known and used during Advent, where everyone is happy and ready to celebrate. It is extremely hard to use carol in a negative way just because of its religious meaning. Carol is associated with happy, religious times, so when you see, hear or read the word, you already have a glimpse of what your about to endeavor.
