In Stave 2 a quote to show how shrude Scrooge is 'All he could make out was that it was still very foggy and extremely cold' this shows that Scrooge is an unpleasant ‘a covetous sinner’. This has an effect upon the reader as it shows how the cold weather can hurt and be distasteful to people just like Scrooge. Scrooge is described as the weather as he is like it; he hurts the people around him. Finally, in the 4th Stave he changes and he admits it, here is a quote “Spirit!'' he cried, tight clutching at its robe, “hear me!

In this essay I am going to distinguish the personality of Scrooge also show you how he was at the beginning of the novella in the 1st Stave to how he changes at the end in the 5th Stave. The title to the novella 'A Christmas Carol' this suggests that the story will be a joyful Christian message. 'Christmas' is a time for celebration and togetherness. It is the time for forgiveness, kindness and charity. 'Carol' is a chant which a group of people sing Christmas and Christian songs, so this is meant to be a time where people have fun and are united with family and friends.

This is proved clear when Marley's ghost appears, and explains to Scrooge that there is "'No rest, no peace. Incessant torture of remorse'" as he when he was living acted just as Scrooge does. Dickens portrays Scrooge in many different but excellent ways and makes you feel a real sense of hatred for him by doing this. By setting the novel in the Victorian era it helps to create an image of the destitute poor and how badly people like Scrooge treat them.
Scrooge's Change in A Christmas Carol Dickens combines a description of hardships faced by the poor with a heart-rending sentimental celebration of the Christmas season. The novel contains dramatic and comic element as well as a deep felt moral theme. In the beginning of the novel Ebenezer Scrooge is portrayed as a hardhearted and unsociable man. However at the end of the novel we see dramatic changes in him as a trio of ghostly visitations causes a complete change in him. Scrooges transformed from an unpleasant and penny-pinching character to a charitable kind man.
For this reason, Charles Dickens attempts to show this in the form of literature in his critically acclaimed novel A Christmas Carol. A Christmas Carol has been constructed in a very careful and intelligent manner. Segmented using five staves, A Christmas Carol begins by portraying Ebenezer Scrooge’s heartless attitude to his fellow man. Staves two, three and four show how his attitude gradually changes. Once Scrooge is shown, by three ghosts, how he became the man he is, the ramifications of his recent actions and the final ghost shows Scrooge how the world would perceive him once he passes away if he fails to change his way of life results in him understanding why he needs to undertake drastic changes to his life.

The poet is asking God what can they do for him even though they are poor and have very little to give. Rossetti speaks on how God is extremely powerful and loving. Carol has many different meanings and they are all similar to each other.
All of those actions were reminding him about his childhood that was an abandoned boy who enjoyed Christmas by singing Christmas song with other kids. At that moment, he said that “He should give something to a boy who was singing at his door last night”. This quotation meant he
