A Christmas Carol
Christmas CarolA secular story of Christmas time in an urban setting,
With a Christmas carol in mind, dickens set out to create a process in
the minds of the Americans imagination. As a result of the industrial
evolution and the growth of the families who were forced from their
homes in the country and into the city, a whole new lifestyle for
them? And as industrialization continued for many people in the city,
working conditions got no better. As this increased, the social
concern for reform also did. After the publication of the ‘Christmas
Carol’ the ideas and concerns for many reform bills, sparked and
increased debate over political and social issues. Whether or not
dickens has a Christmas carol in mind for this, but it is however
clear that the ‘industrial evolution’ has a greater part in making
this story a tale for the times.
Dickens was concerned with the working conditions of the people who
suffered whilst trying to make a living; this is reflected upon the
character of Ebenezer scrooge, a ghastly, old and mean owner who is
hated by almost everybody, even by his workers. He did not care for
them, or show them pity, he paid them minimum wage and if they didn’t
like it, it wouldn’t matter, they would resign and there would be a
queue for people wanting to work there as a replacement, scrooge
therefore saw it as no loss. He knew this because during the
industrial evolution there were more people than their were jobs, and
people back them had to grab anything they could get, whether or not
they would suffer or die earning their money, there were a limited
amount of jobs.
We also see scrooge making a rather harsh remark on the lives of the
poor, where we see two men knocking on scrooge’s door for donations.
He says that it would be alright for them to die as it would help the
population problem. Also we focus upon the character of Bob Cratchit,
who is one of scrooge’s workers. He is paid a meagre salary and can
barely afford to feed and care for his own family, his son is dieing
and he is too poor to afford proper medication for him. Even through
all this, he still manages to have a Christmas dinner with his family
and not let his situation destroy the spirit of Christmas. Bob
Cratchit represents the working class that do their best to live on
what they get paid and are thankful for their health.
While some still argue to this day that dickens motivation for the
the book A Christmas Carol. Dickens wanted the reader to understand the businesses in life. Is to respect others in life the way you want to be treaded. Scrooge was a mean man who was full of money and did not care about others.
Behaving wrong could ruin many friendships. Especially the ones you love. A Christmas Carol is a perfect example of this. It shows how greed and anger can destroy some great companionships. The main character, Ebenezer Scrooge, is the very greedy man of this play/movie. All he cares about is making money and using it all on himself. Until he gets visited by three ghosts which are the past, the present, and the future. This drama and movie have many similarities, yet many differences.
...ow point drives him to consider death as an alternative to suffering. This chapter helps to highlight some present day themes about the ethical issues of euthanasia such as the difference between active and passive euthanasia. Also whether or not a medical professional should assist in the process and under what circumstances. Discussion about euthanasia will probably continue in the future. This character brings some of the issues to light.
On a tiny snowflake floating through the air, exists the town of Who-ville, home of the Whos. The town is joyously preparing for the coming of Christmas. The opening scene is full of noise and excitement with the townspeople hustling and bustling about shopping for gifts. Cheerful Christmas music plays in the background while the countdown until Christmas Day is announced over the town’s loudspeaker. Bright colors combined with unusual hairstyles are seen on the people of Who-ville. The town itself is covered with a multitude of lights, decorated trees, and wreaths.
The play “A Christmas Carol – A ghost story of Christmas” by Charles Dickson, directed by James Black in Houston, TX was performed in a similar way in “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickson, directed by Michael Wilson in Washington, D.C. The both plays had similarities and differences throughout the play in which demonstrated different creativity from the different directors. The rating that was given by the reviewer of the play in Washington gave a 5 out of 5 star rating. For the play that I went to watch the rating I would give it would be a 5 star rating.
Family portrays an important part in Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol throughout the entire story. The three main points I am going to focus on are Scrooge’s relationship with Fred and family, Bob Cratchit’s family, and the effect Scrooge’s approach towards finances, work, and peers had on his relationships.
In the fictional play, A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and Marley, by Israel Horovitz, Scrooge’s first impression is not very good. He refuses to donate to the poor, he dismisses family who want a relationship, and he is miserable and tries to make others the same way. When two men come to see Scrooge, they were asking for donations for the poor. Scrooge, being one of the wealthiest people in the community, is very dismissive, wrongfully so, and asks the two men to leave empty handed. When Scrooge asks if there are workhouses for the poor to go to, the men explain that most people would rather die than to go there. In response Scrooge states, “If they would rather die, than they had better do it and decrease the surplus in population.” (649) When

Scrooge approached the door, but didn't have a speck of knowledge of what's going to happen next. When Scrooge is about to open the door, his old friend, Marley, and worker appeared on the door knocker in surprise. Scrooge walked in his dark house with a little fear, still think it is just, humbug. His mind resolute to playing tricks, he thought. Christmas eve, A night to fear, yet to thank. Life can change in a matter of minutes. In the story, “A Christmas Carol: Scrooge and Marley. Scrooge faces a series of turning points that altered his life forever. In this Exploratory essay, Three turning point will be talked about. Each one with a different ghost, Past, Present, and future. Each with a different lesson Scrooge has to face.
If terminating life is a benefit, the reasoning goes, why should euthanasia be limited only to those who can give consent? Why do we need to ask for consent? " He is just explaining that if we are allowed to kill someone legally through rationalization of the law, eventually we will find a way to rationalize murder too.

In "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer Scrooge undergoes a transformation as a result of his encounters with three ghosts and becomes a kind, happy, and generous man. His greedy, cruel, and grumpy demeanor is replaced seemingly overnight, but he doesn’t just wake up and decide to be nice. It takes three Spirits to change his outlook on life - The Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present, and Future. The Ghost of Christmas Past makes Scrooge begin to regret his selfishness, and the Ghost of Christmas Present begins to teach him about others. This second Ghost helps to make him realize that money doesn't buy happiness. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, however, teaches the most profound lesson of all: unless he changes, no one will care if Scrooge dies. Because of the Ghosts, by Christmas morning Ebenezer Scrooge is a completely different person from the man who went to bed on Christmas Eve.
Doctors say they should always preserve their lives. Before I read this play I agree with this statement. Now, my opinion has changed.
“Bah Humbug!” was what the grumpy character Ebenezer Scrooge said about Christmas. Guess what that got him: a visit with four ghosts Past, Present, Future, and his dead partner and friend Marley. A Christmas Carol is the tale of a rude, irritable man called Ebenezer Scrooge whom loathes Christmas and anything to do with it. His encounter with the ghosts changed his perspective on how to treat people and the way he lives his life. This is shown in both the drama and the movie, but there were some parts of each that were different. However, the message of the story stayed the same.
Charles Dickens wrote the novel A Christmas Carol because he believed that he can have an influence on the situation in England in the 19th century(Bio). He included the character’s greed and want that are a part of Scrooge during his visits with the Ghosts of Christmas.
