(pro-test) As Former UK Officer Minister Joan Ryan quoted “Animals research and testing has played a part in almost every medical breakthrough of the last century. It has saved hundreds of millions of lives worldwide. But those opposed don’t feel the same way. They believe animal experimental for medical research is not relevant in any way to human health that animals do not contribute in the advancement of medicine that for many years scientists have been able to completely cancer free a mice but not a single person has been cancer free. They say that animals are simply put under pain for curiosity.
Introduction Each year in USA laboratories more then 100 million animals are burned, poisoned and lamed (Top 5 Shocking Animal Experimentation Facts). Each year scientists use animals in order to progress, to improve life of people and animals. However, many testing animals suffer and die. But others do not agree and support the fact that we should use animals because of advance. So what are advantages and disadvantages of using animals?

Everyone thinks a lot of good things can come out of animal research but that is not the case. Animal research is not beneficial, for us or the animals. With this in mind, I would definitely have to say one major con of animal testing is the loss of many animal lives. If the animals do not die in the research they are then put to sleep. “This adds to the estimated 90 million animals killed worldwide for research” (Medical Animal Experimentation).
The concept of natural rights for animals would jeopardize all medical research. Animals in the laboratory are mostly used for biomedical research, education and product safety testing. Saraf and Kumarawamy note that almost every medical achievement in this century depended on the use of animals in some way (6). Animal experiments have provided the knowledge necessary to comprehend and develop more effective treatments, but “the opposition to use animals for research purpose has always existed” (Saraf and Kurmarawamy 8).
