Once upon a time, there were a group of friends whose names were Veronica, Carlos, and William. They lived in Charlottesville, Virginia and had been friends for over 5 years. Other kids in their school admired for being friends for that long despite their racial differences. Carlos was a Hispanic male from Honduras, William was a caucasian male from America, and Veronica was an African American female. Sometimes they would get into arguments because their different beliefs but they always worked it out. One day they were walking into school and William was laughing hysterically at something on his phone. Carlos was curious about what he was laughing at but continued to walk. Veronica was a little more curious than Carlos and decided to take a peep at his phone. It was a video of a white girl painting her face black while wearing an afro wig, hoop earrings, and a dashiki. The caption read, “ I love my black culture! #dabonem # itslit.” Veronica was surprised, too surprised to say anything but just ignore it. The next day, Carlos was sitting in Spanish class and was answering all the question the teacher was asking. Then a couple of caucasian kids were yelling racial slurs at him. It was the first week of school, Veronica and Carlos were studying for an upcoming test while watching the local news. As they were watching the news there was a protest going on in there city. The reporter was explaining that the protesters were from a white supremacists group who believed they owned America and were superior over all other races. In the midst of the crowd there was William. Carlos turned up the volume to get a better understanding of what the protesters were saying.
