Korea is the only country in the world that is divided into North and South. After the Korean independence from Japan’s colonial rule on August 15th, 1945, the Soviet Union occupied Northern part of Korea and the United States took the other half. Soon they made a military boundary called the 38th Parallel that separates North and South Korea.
