First impression is very important because life moves so quickly these days, we don 't necessarily get to know each other on a deeper level. More and more people would like to do cosmetic surgery to become more beautiful and handsome on the basis of health and ordinary. Indeed, some people become good-looking after surgery, but some are not so lucky that surgery failed again and again which make the body and mind suffered great damage. First, for the person who want to have cosmetic surgery, there exist negative factors. The directly shortcomings is that they will not work and have normal daily activities for a period of time. Even though the technology is developed, but the surgery itself cannot be one hundred percent safe. The risk of surgery including allergies, chronic pain, scar and postoperative discomfort, etc. There are dangers involved in any kind of surgery. Sometimes we must accept those dangers, as they come in the course of necessary medical procedures. But with elective surgery – procedures people don 't need, but rather merely want – the risks can 't be justified. These risks apply both to the surgery itself, and to the long term. For example, leaking silicone breast implants have been a widespread problem and can lead to death. Also, cosmetic surgery will bring sequelae, there are many taboo after the plastic surgery, a lot of things can not eat, can not sun and so on. Moreover, Sometimes the result of the plastic surgery might not turn out to be what you originally desire, some even suffer disfigurement. Last but not the least, cosmetic surgery can also impose major financial risks on patients. The other problem is patients or their family cannot accept their new appearance also can bring certain mental illness. Also, as everyone will become old, outer beauty is temporary. If a less attractive person has a more convincing diploma, more comprehensive capacity, or more useful skills, the result should be turned over. The reason is that good external appearance indeed cantering extra points but cannot make up for the lack of personal ability, after all, the personal ability is the crucial factor for doing a good job. Through in-depth study, Pascale, and so on, examined “the interaction between appearance, competence and job sex type, and it showed that attractiveness influenced recruiters for female, but not for male sex-type jobs, when the application was highly competent.” (Pascale, Sabine & Veonique, 2009) That is , the crucial factor of getting a hood and high-paid job is the candidates’ actual ability as well as the match of jobs instead of the good appearances. Every job requires corresponding skilled talent, so the necessity for interview is to find the right employee. Even if an attractive face brings job opportunity, but such job opportunity is temporary in my view. Owing to lint-term practice the real personal ability could be revealed without reservation. As a result whoever gets a job depends on his or her external appearance but lack of real capacity, and then he or she might be fired in the future. In that case, good appearance may bring not only good first expression but also negative

In today society, beauty in a woman seems to be the measured of her size, or the structure of her nose and lips. Plastic surgery has become a popular procedure for people, mostly for women, to fit in social class, race, or beauty. Most women are insecure about their body or face, wondering if they are perfect enough for the society to call the beautiful; this is when cosmetic surgery comes in. To fix what “needed” to be fixed. To begin with, there is no point in cutting your face or your body to add or remove something most people call ugly. “The Pitfalls of Plastic Surgery” explored the desire of human to become beyond perfection by the undergoing plastic surgery. The author, Camille Pagalia, took a look how now days how Americans are so obsessed
Cosmetic surgery is performed by doctors from a variety of medical fields, including plastic surgeons. The scope of cosmetic surgery encompasses breast enhancement, facial contouring, facial rejuvenation, body contouring, and skin rejuvenation. On the other hand, plastic surgery deals with reconstructive surgery. In fact, in 1999, the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons changed its name to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons in order to communicate that “plastic and reconstructive surgery are one and the same”. Because it is reconstructive in nature, plastic surgery corrects dysfunctional areas of the body.
Shortly after the horrific death of Donda West, son Kanye West appeared on the Dr. Phil show to discuss the risks of getting plastic surgery. Donda died the following day after a tummy tuck and breast reduction surgery. Her plastic surgeon, Dr. Jan Adams is to blame. In another case, young Lori also went under the knife of Dr. Jan Adams and also appeared on the Dr. Phil show after a frantic experience. In Lori’s case, she wanted to fix one implanted breast because it was unusually saggier than her other breast. Dr. Adams knew what needed to be done to correct the problem. However, that’s not exactly what happened. Following the surgery, Lori experienced a terrible pain, and noticed that her chest had been greatly damaged. She also noticed that her left breast was much bigger than her right. When Lori confronted Dr. Adams about her problems he just looked at her and laughed. After seven long years of excruciating pain, Lori finally went to see another doctor to have the surgery redone. During the surgery, the doctor realized that there was something in Lori’s breast that was foreign because as he was cutting, his tool started smoking and the smell was horrific. Lori’s doctor found a piece of a sponge left behind from Dr. Adams surgery seven years ago, and the horrid smell was due to an infection that has increased greatly over time. Luckily, the infection hadn’t yet been life threatening. There are many risks of getting plastic surgery, especially when it is performed in other countries.
Cosmetic surgery is essentially not a bad thing. Some people suffer facial and body injuries or are born with a deformity which can only be corrected by plastic surgery. Cosmetic surgery can also be a life saver in cases of extreme obesity. However, some people-especially young females- are becoming too obsessed with their looks and body. The quest of finding the perfect body has led many to the operating table, opting for multiple cosmetic surgeries.
The words plastic surgery ignite certain thoughts into people’s minds. One may think of a celebrity such as Kylie Jenner or the constant rise in breast augmentation. Typically most people do not have the desire to surgically alter their appearance. Some however, feel the need to enhance their look as a result of insecurity, low self-esteem or bullying. Others have certain role models they look up to and would like to resemble their idol in one aspect or another. Adolescents and young adults are the most influenced by the media. Often times, a teen girl will scroll through her Instagram or even look at models in advertisements and want to look like the women pictured. Even if this means mimicking a certain eye look or hairstyle. Some girls won’t settle for a subtle change and will want to take things farther.
According to Discourse and Society “Cosmetic surgery needs to be seen as an important social practice because it merges the attention given to the body by an individual person with the values and priorities of the consumer society.” Younger generations are easily drawn to the hype that is presented by the media, and in turn look at themselves as imperfect, and seek to make changes to their body as a result.
My research paper will explain the benefits of plastic surgery. People often have a lot of doubt when it comes to plastic surgery, but it can actually have many positive attributes, both physically and psychologically such as improving one’s health, lifestyle, and confidence
Some people’s obsession with plastic surgery is obviously getting out of control. It starts with only getting one thing fixed or corrected but then quickly escalates and before you know it, a face that once was all-flesh turns into plastic. According to a study conducted by Nigel Mercer (2009), “The number of official cosmetic surgeries has more than tripled to 34,000 since 2003”. The two reasons why plastic surgery should be banned are because of its high health risks, and because of the additional pressure it puts on people to look picture-perfect.
Most of us don't like some aspect of our appearance, whether it's sagging eyes or excess weight in particular areas, to name a few complaints. Lately a record numbers of Americans are doing something about it by having plastic surgery. Since 1995, the number of cosmetic procedures, which range from liposuction to facelifts, has almost tripled (English 23). Is that a healthy choice-or a dangerous trend? Aging has become the field of the future for plastic surgeons whose patients have reasons not always valid in the search for youth and beauty.
I believe that the cosmetic surgery goes against the core values of medicine. Cosmetic surgery is mainly a business like industry that promotes enhancement of individuals who have no medical illnesses in exchange for money. Although I did not cover all the possible refutation regarding cosmetic surgery, I believe that the cases that I presented helped show that cosmetic surgery are not ethically acceptable due to the Consequentialist ethical approach that I was aiming to achieve through the reasoning mentioned. The long-term consequences of allowing cosmetic surgery should be taken seriously before it would disintegrate the society that we have today more than it has already been. After writing this paper, a question that I want to learn more in depth about is how cosmetic surgery is viewed as from someone who has already gotten it done, and to see more of the reasoning to compare it to
Cosmetic surgery is becoming a trend world-wide today because humans can never be fully satisfied in terms of looks; however, this type of surgery has many serious perils rather than some benefits that we already know.
As the practice is becoming increasingly popular, mainstream acceptance has given birth to a society that values appearance over ability and ultimately leading on to discrimination in practically every field. There is an overwhelming amount of evidence that indicates that appearance has become a vital contributor of success at the workplace and even in educational institutions for that matter. A study by researchers from Rice University and the University of Houston indicated that candidates with facial scars and blemishes faced lower odds of being remembered by their interviewers which lowered their ratings and evaluations (as cited in ...
Cosmetic Surgery is a great discovery that has been around for many centuries. “The history of plastic surgery origins in the early 800 B.C. when surgeons in India restored noses to persons who had them taken off as a form of punishment.” (History of Cosmetic Surgery, 2008) Many people have used over the years cosmetic and reconstructive surgery to enhance their physical appearance weather it be for health problems associated with birth defect or problems that they have developed over the years or to even alter physical appearances for instance nose jobs and tummy tucks. There are numerous types of cosmetic surgery that can be done today in the United States, over the year’s surgeons techniques have improved dramatically. There are a number of pro’s and con’s that go along with cosmetic surgery, such as the amount of recovery time and the initial cost of surgery. Statistics also show that cosmetic surgery has grown so rapidly over the years it is phenomenal people who receive cosmetic surgery goes up by the millions every year. While there can be many related health risks due to cosmetic sugary, many times cosmetic surgery is necessary and its is made more affordable than thought to be.
As cosmetic surgery can improve the overall mental and physical well being of a person, and increasing self confidence and self esteem. The world of cosmetic surgery is portrayed through media and our favourite celebrities, showing men and women that it is okay to change the body or face they came into the world with. Cosmetic surgery will continue to increase in the number of individuals that receive surgery to fix their
