The students are seeking help because of their detachment with others not wanting to bond or trust in others. This detachment causes rage inside of them and fear of abandonment of someone not being able to be there for them when help is needed. The students are placed in an emotional disturbance classroom; they have been in an inclusion and mainstreaming classroom before, however, due to the many outburst and disruptions, the students are now contained in one classroom with peers who can adjust adequately at the same level. At P.S. 74 Hamlin Park, I was placed in an emotional disturbance classroom with six third and fourth graders. Entering the classroom I was given an insight on the students’ behavior, cultural background, family background, and academic achievement. I was given directions as to why sometimes the classroom had more than two teachers inside and what were the procedures. Each student had his own desk and was not allowed to work with other classmates. The classroom itself was made so that all the students in the classroom did not have to walk out the room. The students are to be seated at individual tables alone. They all work differently and most students in the classroom bring violence with them and decide to hurt one another. The teacher explained that the students become very intimidated by one another in certain situations. If one fight breaks between two students then another group of students feel like they need to prove themselves and also fight. 2) Trust with grownups, I would need to accept that there has been some kind of abandonment or misbehavior from someone older who hurt the child physically or even mentally.
