Claudius what are your motives for killing the king, marrying his wife
and taking on the role of father to his young son?
Claudius is introduced in act I, ii. In this scene he has an important
speech. In this speech he talks about the death of the king, his marriage to the
queen and the foreign problems of the state. He utilizes many transitions and
tends to empiseze the foreign affairs of the state. I don't know what to make of
this, it could mean various things. It could mean that Claudius is making a grab
for power shown in his concentration on the foreign polices trying to distract
from his lust for power, along with his marriage to the queen giving the change
in leadership a smoother and more acceptable feel. He also down plays the death
of the formal king so that he can redirect the peoples' attention to his plans
and the problems of the state. But I could mean something else I'm not sure.
Later on in this scene Claudius talks to Hamlet, Hamlet is very depressed,
Claudius gives hamlet some comforting and fatherly advice here trying to get him
out of his deep depression. But what is his true motivation here is he trying to
get hamlet as a backer for his new rain, so he is just lying and manipulating
hamlet, or dose he have true and deep feelings for Hamlet and is just trying to
help hamlet and was no self-interest in it. I feel right now that it a bit of
both I think he cares about hamlet but would also like him to support his rise
to power.
Next we come to act II, ii, hamlet has made many strange comments and
actions lately, many people think he is going, or has gone insane. Claudius
finds two of Hamlets good friends to spy on him and try to find out what wrong
with him. At this point we know that Hamlet knows that Claudius killed his
father but we don't know whether Claudius knows that hamlet knows or even if he
suspects, this cast a strange light on this scene. First if Claudius suspects
hamlet knows that he killed his father then we might assume that Claudius is
sending these spy to find out for sure if he knows, but if he dose not suspect
hamlet then this might be another show of Claudius's affection towards Hamlet.
So the same question keeps coming up dose Claudius like Hamlet or is he just
using him? At this point it to hard to tell so we must delve deeper in to the
Some people don’t know why schools are trying to drop interscholastic sports. Some schools are trying to get rid of the sports that are going on for the district because of the cost to cover the injuries for the players or the cost of the equipment. Although people say that the equipment for school events like football pads, football cleats and basketball things. If the price goes down on the equipment schools would probably buy a lot of the equipment so they don’t have to buy it so they have extra material for events if something breaks or gets ruined. Among the cost of the equipment school districts would possibly use the same equipment.

Todays generations of kids and adults all come from a widely diverse community. Generations may evolve over times, but the same problems that people experience in the past continue on through everyone living today. Much like Mama in "A Raisin in the Sun", she was raised in an era where respect meant using manners, treating elders and authority with respect was second hand and growing up and becoming a man or women was a crucial part of life. Walter doesn’t have a grasp on what "growing up" and becoming an adult is. Two contradicting people create a soulful story through the growth and development of Mama and Walters’s relationship.
Mothers always have a prominent influence on what kind of person their children become. Mothers are supposed to show their children to the right path. Especially, the sons. The sons in the family represent the future men of the family. In her play A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, Walter wants to be the man of his family and leader, but Mama does not think he is ready for the responsibility. Walter wants to open a liquor store with the 10,000 dollar insurance check Mama receives, from the passing of her husband. Mama is the provider for the family, she still views Walter as her child, although he is 35 years old.

In the play “A Raisin in the Sun”, written by Lorraine Hansberry, the Youngers, a poor african american family of five struggle to live together in an era of racial segregation and assimilation in Chicago. Most of the Youngers have gotten by working for white people, yet never escaping poverty. However when a large inheritance is expected to arrive each member of the family has their own dream they wish to use it for, but only Walter, the son of Lena, has the nerve to outwardly ask his mother to permit it to him. Walter’s irresponsibility, and intuition to always find a shortcut to success is what has caused his widowed mother to continuously be the head of the family. This factor not only changes the ideals of a man's role in the household but also effects Walter’s inability to progress and grow into the man his father was.
A Raisin in the Sun takes place in the souths side of Chicago in the late 50s and Walter Lee Younger is characterized as a stubborn and selfish character but, he only pursues his ideas or dreams to better the lives of others, his family. The Youngers face many road blocks that inhibit their dreams being achieved such as prejudice, low finance, and poverty. Walter is developed as an ambiguous and consist character who carries the burden of not being able to afford the basic necessities for his family. Even though it’s difficult for the reader to see at first, Walter is the strongest member of the younger family because he doesn’t stop trying to make a greater future for him and most importantly his family. In Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in
With the removal of sports, districts’ will save a great deal of money. In Amanda Ripley’s article, “new bleachers and maintaining grass fields can cost half a million dollars” (11). Also in Amanda Ripley’s article, the cost of sports can make the schools and districts lose a portion of their money (11).School sports should be withdrawn to save money for other activities like field trips and assemblies. With the disposal of school sports, districts’ will save money and have enough money to pay for field trips and other activities.
Hamlet is portrayed as a lonely madman, that is confused and hurting from his father's death. After his dad passed, he developed somewhat of trust issues and has people that he can trust and some people that
This is one of the few times throughout the story where Hamlet can be honest about
[4, 1, 40] These idiosyncrasies are observed in the play when Claudius becomes concerned he will lose power as King and the likelihood Hamlet will murder him to avenge his father’s death. This is apparent when Gertrude informs Claudius that Hamlet is, “Mad as the sea and wind, when both contend which is mightier”. [4,1,6] With these thoughts daunting Claudius, he approaches Laertes in a Machiavellian manner to convince him to murder Hamlet, for he knows Laertes is angry, deranged and “Vows to the blackest devil” [4,5,131] after the death of his father. In doing so, Claudius has the intent to use Machiavellian powers over Laertes who is currently mentally unstable, with the objective being that Laertes will murder Hamlet to avenge his own father’s (Polonius) death. Claudius is able to successfully persuade Laertes in a manipulative speech, especially with his snide comment, “Not that I think you did not love your father, but that I know love is begun by time, and that I see a passage of proof.” [4,7,96] Claudius’ malicious comment indicates he is using his power over Laertes, so that the burden and repercussions do not rest on him, so that he may retain his authority as King. By utilizing his power over Laertes, Claudius is successful, as Hamlet is slain, however, as reflected in Claudius’
Claudius is seen in Hamlets eyes as a horrible person because he convicted murder and incest. Claudius had killed the king of Denmark, Old Hamlet, to obtain the position of the throne. He had been jealous of Old Hamlet’s wife Gertrude and wanted to marry her for her power. Although, such an act would be called incest and considered unnatural he did not care, all he had cared about was the power that he would be stealing from Hamlet and Old Hamlet, Gertrude’s son and husband (R). When Hamlet had talked to his f...
At the end of each year there is a significant amount of money spent on athletic programs, which would be reduced for school districts if sports were cancelled. In the article “Should Your School Get Rid of Sports?” Amanda Ripley states that “by suspending sports, the superintendent of Premont High School, realized the district could save $150,000 in one year,” this is because “no one realizes their actual cost” (11). Ripley goes on to state that “yes, even though there are concessions at games to help with the cost, there is rarely enough to cover the massive amount spent to begin with” (11). This shows that there is way more money spent on athletic programs than there should be. This is important because if the extracurricular activities are cut, more money can be saved for schools and can be used for academic purposes.
As well as Hamlet is giving clues to Claudius, that Hamlet knows who killed his father. Hamlet asks for a play that gives the same story line to scare his uncle. This is a tactic to send not only Hamlet into insanity but also Claudius. The tactic of the play works Claudius is fearful of what Hamlet knows about the murder of King Hamlet. Prince Hamlet is now fearful of everyone that is proximate to him. Hamlet cerebrates that everyone is out to get him. Hamlet even endeavors to verbalize to his mother to convince her that Claudius killed King Hamlet. Even when Hamlet tells Gertrude, it is as though she thinks Hamlet is making it up. Claudius is victualing into Hamlet 's suspicion by sending people to Hamlet and ascertain what he knows. This makes Hamlet not trust anyone that he
