The Baccalaureate Nursing program (BSN) of the St. Petersburg College (SPC) is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) (St. Petersburg College [SPC], 2015). Evaluation of the revised curriculum for the baccalaureate and graduate nursing program at SPC is done based on the CCNE standards of accreditation.
Evaluation of Curriculum Plan
Evaluation of the revised curriculum is done based on the Standard III of CCNE accreditation standards. The Standard III-A explains that the curricular objectives should be developed as a clear statement of expected student outcome for which they are being prepared (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education [CCNE], 2013). The new revised course of mental health nursing for baccalaureate nurses will help the students to integrate mental health concepts and therapeutic standards of care into their clinical nursing practice. As per the revised curriculum, the objectives of Genetics and Genomics course will help the students to offer patient care from a genetic perspective, thus it will help in providing advanced quality care to the patient, family, and community. Whereas the Pathophysiology and Pharmacology course will enable the students to apply knowledge in providing quality care by understanding the disease process, progression, drug side effects and interactions pertaining the disease process.

The proposed curriculum has a formal set of intended learning outcome that articulate the knowledge ,skills, attitudes, and values it proposes. The evaluation criteria followed are congruent with the CCNE standards and appropriate teaching, learning practices are utilized for successful student outcome. Hence, it is clearly evident that the new proposed curriculum meets the required standards of the baccalaureate nursing program and can be submitted for approval/accreditation.
