Abduction

Crunch. Heidi looked up, glancing from side to side. Crunch. She had thought she was alone. Crunch. Her heart beat faster and her hand clenched the heart on her necklace. Crunch. She quickened her pace as she heard footsteps coming from behind her. Her hand started to cramp up from holding the necklace so hard. Crunch. Heidi turned slowly. A dark figure stood about ten feet away from her. She panicked as she heard the footsteps behind her getting quicker.

“Who’s there?” she said, still walking.

The figure was silent. Only the sounds of heavy breathing came from its mouth.

“What do you want?”

The breathing got louder as the figure moved closer.

Heidi let go of her necklace, and turned her head one last time before she started to run. The figure’s footsteps got louder. It was getting closer. Tears welled up Heidi’s eyes.

“HELP!”

Her cries for help were followed by silence and the tears started to run down her face. She grabbed for her phone with shaky hands, and dialed 911.

Ring….Ring….Ring….

“C’mon please.” Heidi cried out.

“911, what’s your emergen--”

The figure had caught up with Heidi and knocked the phone out of her hand. It smashed to pieces.

“No!”

The figure put one of his large hands over Heidi’s mouth. It muffled her screams. Heidi went to elbow the man in the stomach, but he grabbed her arm before she could do anything. The man grabbed her and struggled to get her into an alleyway. Heidi’s heart was beating faster than she’s ever felt it beat before. She was still trying to scream, the sound being muffled each time.

“Stop that.” the man said, slowly.

Heidi kept screaming, trying to squirm out of his grasp.

“I’m warning you.”

Her face was red from crying and...

... middle of paper ...

...e keeled over in pain and Heidi grabbed the bowl and hit the man as hard as she could in the side of the head with the bowl. The man fell against the wall and Heidi made a run for it. She had no idea where she was going, considering she had never been outside of that room.

“GET BACK HERE!”

She began to hear footsteps against the concrete ground, her memory flashing back to when she was taken. Heidi ran as fast as she could to the first door she saw. She wiggled the door handle. It was locked. She tried the next door. Locked. The footsteps grew louder. The man was getting closer. She ran to another door and turned the handle, the door opened and revealed a grassy area that looked like it went on for days. There was no time to think, only to run. Without looking back, she ran towards the horizon, hoping it would take her somewhere safe. Somewhere like home.
