Recommended: The relevance of the declaration of independence

To what extent does ‘The American scholar’ reflect the values of the Declaration of Independence and the American Constitution?
After enduring the domination from England’s rules and power for many years, America finally fetched the liberty from England. That was the day when the Americans enjoyed the Independence Day on 4th of July in 1776. During the declaration of independence the main priority of America was the human rights. By then the literature came to an existence in America and people started to take enthusiasm into it. Ralph Waldo Emerson was one of the finest poets who believed in individualism and creativeness. He gave an inspiring speech at Cambridge in 1837. His speech was delivered in the Phi Beta Kappa Society in Harvard to the graduating men. The American scholar was the title of the speech which became an inspiration to many scholars. The American scholar does reflect the value of declaration of independence and the American constitution. The American scholar has the aspects of being original, independent, courageous and intelligent scholar.
Emerson encouraged the writers to believe in originality than embracing the foreign influences. He expressed that the American writers should no more plagiarize the style of foreign literature especially from the European literature. American independence had provoked Emerson to generate the habit of engaging the writers to promote American style of writing. This evoked that Emerson wanted the American writers to show that America is no more dependent. Rather American writing no longer had the foreign influences which purely mirrored the values of declaration of independence. ... The American scholar teaches the value of being independent, courageous and intelligent scholar which also invokes the general people of America to be one. This speech also showed the importance of self reliance by comparing it with the nature which is important to accept by the people. The declaration of independence had the significant role for promoting human rights and individualism which has a connection with the American scholar. This speech of Emerson had brought a huge difference to the nation as the country still support independence of individuals and god gift rights to individual to do anything they can. There are many intelligent and learned people who are credited for the country’s pride which can be an ensue of being educated and independent.
