Ray Rice Situation

When a major topic is brought to the media, it will be published throughout the country. In each newspaper someone different is writing their own article making their own story unique. In the incident involving Ray Rice, he allegedly knocked his fiancé unconscious during an altercation while the two of them were in an elevator in Atlantic City. After knocking her unconscious video surveillance captured Rice dragging Palmer out of the elevator and onto the ground. In the three news articles I have selected coming from the USA Today, The Baltimore Sun, and New Jersey On-Line. Though each of their articles have the same facts and information they are written in different styles with different signifiers such as the style of the text, headlines, and pictures and video which are indicated from our textbook really help capture the whole story.
Throughout the three articles they have much of the same information stated about the immediate reaction after the altercation Saturday morning on February 15, 2014. One method each of the newspaper articles used was the inverted pyramid. The definition of the inverted pyramid is defined as, “The organization of news differs from many fictional narratives by presenting the climax first, with all the who, what, where and when information in the opening paragraphs (Kennedy, 76)”. In each of these articles three articles they uses this tactic by describing the main events in Rice against arrested after knocking his wife unconscious in Atlantic City. By doing this it gives the readers the opportunity to read the main points and having the option to continue reading or not.
