Today you probably hear that almost, hopefully everybody, thinks Adolf Hitler is an evil man. Hitler was an evil man, because he made many lives miserable by killing millions of people during the Holocaust.
The Holocaust occurred from 1933 to 1945. The National Socialist (Nazi) party was in power in Germany. During the Holocaust, over 6 million Jews were killed! Nazis adipted a policy called the “Final Solution”. It’s goal was to kill all Jews in Europe. By the time the Nazis were defeated in 1945 they had killed over 6 million Jews. The Nazi’s also murdered homosexuals, disabled people, and people with different political views.

Some people have never heard of her. Anne Frank was a girl who was raised during the Holocaust. She had a diary her father had given her and somebody found it. They learned all types of stuff about the Holocaust, and what happened during that time. Anne Frank and her family were German Jews. When Hitler came to power in 1933, they fled to the Netherlands. In 1940, the Nazi’s invaded the Netherlands. Two years later, they started to deport Jews to camps. Anne Frank’s family hid in a secret annex above her father’s office. They had to remain hidden and stay quiet at all times. Some office people would bring food and other things to them. Two years later, the Nazi’s discovered the families. Only Anne Frank’s father survived the camp and the Holocaust.
In June 1944, the Nazi’s started to lose the war. In January 1945, Soviet Soldiers reached Auschwitz. They freed the few prisoners who were still alive. In April, British and United States troops freed the survivors in Buchenwald, Belsen, and Dachau camps. In May, the war in Europe finally ended. All together the Holocaust killed over 11 million people. About two-thirds of the Jews of Europe died in the Holocaust. The people who were most likely to survive were rich people. She was a hidden child. She is now married and has six children. “Belgium was supposed to be a neutral during the war, but Adolf Hitler ignored that and invaded Belgium. There was movement where you could inquire about hiding Jews… hiding children and my father did that. He had a place for my brother to go; he had a place for my sister to go, and he found this place for me, and he took me on the street car to a woman’s house for me. The reason I keep saying “this woman” is I do not know her name. The only people who knew her name were my parents. I was a little girl then. They took me to the house—my father actually—he brought me into the house, and that was the last time I saw my father. I was hidden for two years. I never went outside. I was not allowed to go outside because I didn’t belong to a family, and the woman who hid me sacrificed a lot to take me, because had the Nazi’s discovered she was hiding a Jew, whether it was a little girl or an adult it didn’t matter, they would have killed her on the spot, of course as well as me. I was allowed sometimes to go out in the backyard, but for the most part that was my home for two years. I was never mistreated- ever!
