Josef Mengele, The Angel of Death
The greek philosopher Aristotle once said, “We are what we repeatedly do”. This quote means that once you start doing things over and over again, people will start to see you as that. This quote relates to Josef Mengele because he was know for sugarcoating twins then doing deadly experiments on them. Josef Mengele, the “Angel of Death,” focused his sadistic experiments on twins during his service in Auschwitz.
To better understand the Holocaust, it is important to apply the definition. The Holocaust describes the state sponsored slaughter of six million Jewish men, women, and children, along with the killing of others by the Nazi and their allies during WWII. Called “the Final Solution” by the Nazis, the Holocaust

I think that image will stay with me forever. It was there that I made a silent pledge - a vow to make sure that Miriam and I didn't end up on that filthy floor” (Bulow). Though he has a reputation for giving children candy and occasionally being kind, Mengele thought so little of his victims that he had no problem leaving corpses on the bathroom floor.
Jona Laks, one of the twins who had met Mengele remembers how he was going to send her to the gas chamber until he realized she had a twin. According to BBC new it states “Another woman who remembers her arrival at the camp is Jona Laks, who was taken as a teenager from the Lodz ghetto. She was not immediately recognised as a twin and was initially sent off in the direction of the gas chamber - when her sister told Mengele they were twins he had her brought to his laboratory”(Walker).
In presumably, Josef Mengele, the Angel of Death, would take the most innocent twins, who in fact our children, and do the most harsh things to them. He would make them be his human lab rats. Mengele would treat them as if they weren’t even humans, as if they were from another plant. Josef Mengele “lab rats” who have survived him says that he was nice at first then he would expermient on your
The way to Auschwitz was always a train ride but after that, the twins’ lives separated from the rest. The train unloaded onto a sorting platform, where an Auschwitz doctor sorted them. One doctor that helped sort was Dr. Josef Mengele. He worked no more than any other doctor, but he would appear while off-duty to try to find twins or people with other physical deformities (“Josef Mengele” Holocaust Museum par.7). Directly after they were taken away, they were treated very well. They were forced to take a shower, but they got to keep their own clothes and hair. They also had to fill out a form about their family history and basic facts about their health. Since most of these children now had no families, Dr. Josef Mengele acted as a father figure for them. He would interact with the children, and talk to them. Sometimes he even played with them. He often gave them candy or chocolates too. In this part of the camp, he was known as Uncle Mengele (Rosenberg par.12-14).
Josef Mengele. Dr. Nyiszli writes he was driven to survive so that he would be able to inform the world of what had taken place in Auschwitz.

He liked to do experiments on twins because he could easily see what changes it does to the one that he would test it compares to the healthy one. Such things like this add up to making Auschwitz how bad it was.
Dr. Mengele was truly a smart man. He studied medicine and psychology throughout his lifetime, most of these experiences were at the Frankfurt University (9). Little did people known that Josef Mengele was actually hired simply to study heredity in twins. The Nazi army enlisted Mengele during his last years studying at the Frankfurt University.(5)With his expertise in the medical field the SS really believed he could find the key to heredity, which they believed would win them the war. With the extensive capabilities Mengele had, he was able to extensively research throughout hundreds of experiments. Mengele experimented and tested ideas to his hearts content, on the countless amounts of Jewish prisoners.
January 30th, 1933 was the day thousands of lives were affected greatly. Adolf Hitler began as the Chancellor of Germany. Hitler and his newly founded army, were always viewed as the true killers of the innocent Jews. Many did not notice the people who actually did a great deal of the killing, the doctors that is. There were a number of doctors from the Holocaust that are known for horrific killing but one stands out above the rest. Dr. Josef Mengele is the one that most people know about. He is the one that is known for his antics in the killing of Jews. He can’t be compared to the others because what he did was like no other.
There are times in history when desperate people plagued by desperate situations blindly give evil men power. These men, once given power, have only their own evil agendas to carry out. The Holocaust was the result of one such man's agenda. In short simplicity, shear terror, brutality, inhumanity, injustice, irresponsibility, immorality, stupidity, hatred, and pure evil are but a few words to describe the Holocaust.
When first getting to the concentration camp of Auschwitz, the most popular one of them all, Mengele would be given a role in the selection process where people entering the camps were picked based on their physical appearance if they could work or should be gassed and killed. Mengele’s role in this was to look for the perfect test subjects for his experiments. These subjects were then taken somewhere else and the rest, who were not chosen, were actually saved from the torture that these people received. Although they were not tortured by Nazis, they were definitely tortured by Mengele in the form of experiments, which is actually thought of as worse than torture. Menge...
Furthermore, the speaker gives insight on Mengele’s background information to express the idea on why Mengele was evil. Mengele was scientist that that did inhuman experiments on the Jews during the Holocaust for the research of his interest. Mengele was living in the environment of the Nazis and he was continuously influenced by Nazi . To further tell, from living in the Nazi community, his decision was altered because of how society was. The Holocaust was the mass killing of all of the Jews in Western Europe during an event referred to by the Nazis
The Holocaust could best be defined as the mass killing of about 6 million Jewish people during World War II. A lot of events led up to the Holocaust, during the Holocaust, and even after the Holocaust. Adolf Hitler, the leader of the Nazi party and was held most responsible for this terrible genocide. The Holocaust was a terrible time in our world’s history.
The word “Holocaust”, originated from the words “Holos” meaning whole, and “kaustos” meaning burned. To Adolf Hitler, Jews were an “inferior” race. After years of Nazi rule, Hitler’s “final solution” came under the cover of World War II, with mass killing centers constructed in the concentration camps. Jews, Jehovah's Witnesses, Roman Gypsies, Priests and Pastors, homosexuals, and black children were all victims of the Holocaust. Most of the victims left were from other countries.
One of the most demented doctors of the Nazi era went by the name of Josef Mengele. This was because of the gruesome experiments he conducted on woman, men, and children. Mengele wasn't always part of the Nazi culture. In fact, a lot of people don't seem to know how he ended up living the life that he did. Mengele started his career saving lives and helping people, not destroying them. So what caused him to change his ways so drastically? How could someone find it so easy to cause somebody else so much pain and agony?
The Holocaust was the genocide of approximately six million people of innocent Jewish decent by the Nazi government. The Holocaust was a very tragic time in history due to the idealism that people were taken from their surroundings, persecuted and murdered due to the belief that German Nazi’s were superior to Jews. During the Holocaust, many people suffered both physically and mentally. Tragic events in people’s lives cause a change in their outlook on the world and their future. Due to the tragic events that had taken place being deceased in their lives, survivors often felt that death was a better option than freedom.
While being in Concentration Camps, Jews had no control over anything. Some Jewish inmates were selected to do various experiments. They did not volunteer for these experiments. They were chosen. They had to participate in the experiment or they would be killed. In addition, if they were picked, most experiments resulted in death or a permanent disability and not many survived. The Jews also had no idea what they were in for as the experiments were for the Nazi doctors who wanted to learn how they could help better their army and learn about illness and injury treatment through these often gross and volger experiments. The Nazi’s condiucted over 30 different experiments. There were only 7,000 Jewish victims documented that were killed, but there were many more people that died from these experiments. One of the worst and most known experiments were the twin experiments. Of the 1,000 pairs of twins that were experimented on in these concentration camps, only about 200 survived. Forty years later, only a few twins that were experimented on could be found in the United States.
