I haven’t always known that I wanted to be a therapist, but I have always known that I have wanted to help people. I have always had a hand in helping others. I understand my passion and calling to help individuals in a certain way. I have had personal experiences that push me towards the role of a therapist. There have been people close to me in life that have needed help, but didn’t know how to receive help or couldn’t figure it out. Their lives and mine have been deeply affected by their mental state and choices. This deep seated personal experiences have guided my life choices, from my own employment choices to my education. My educational involvement, life experiences, work related experiences, personal characteristics, and goals have set the groundwork for becoming a therapist. Educational involvement has prepared me for this pathway. A good therapist needs to be well informed in research and the research process. I have good time management skills, I am dependable, and can communicate well. I have used these skills by serving in the secretary roll for the psychology club and psi chi honor society. In this role I developed sophisticated organization skills, stability, and accountability. Involvement with the resource center, Psi Chi, Psychology club, and the cognition lab have shown the amount of juggling, I overcome to succeed. Working, classes, seniors honors thesis, and being a mom all show great time management skills; which is a great characteristic for a therapist. Working with others by assisting and helping has cemented the basis groundwork toward the therapist pathway. Admittance into the master’s program would help in obtaining my personal goal of becoming an accredited
