In my history class we did a project called dream-a-dream. In this project we had to type a couple of paragraphs about what we wanted to be in the future and we had to find pictures in magazines . I chose a firefighter or a professional baseball player. I chose firefighter because I get to save people from fires and maybe their house too, also I heard that firefighters get paid a lot. I chose to be a baseball player because I have been playing this sport for nine years and I am actually really good at the sport. My favorite position to play is pitcher because all of the attention is on me. The teacher told us to type about what you wanted to be in the future, find some pictures on what you want to be, and have it done with in 2 weeks. The expectation was to have it done neatly and when he said it was due. This assignment relates to an alien project I did in science. It relates only because it was a project. The point of this assignment was to know what you want to be in the future. For an A on the assignment you had to finish it on time, and do it neatly. …show more content…
It took me about 3 days just to find pictures in magazines for a baseball player and for a firefighter. The decisions I made were putting the pictures on the right side of the paper and the paragraphs on the left side of the paper. I spent about a week on this assignment. I completed most of the work at school since my teacher gave us the whole class period to work on it, but when the period was over I was working on it at home. To be successful on this assignment I had to know what I wanted to be in the future and do all of the work correctly. I expected to do okay on the assignment but I did better than I thought I

Every kid thinks they know what they want to be when they grow up. It changes over the years though. When I was around seven years old I wanted to be a pop star. This dream was based on a disney channel show called hannah montana, about a teen girl who lives a double life as a pop star. When I was around ten years old I wanted to be an actor on a sit com. Then I discovered basketball. I started playing all the time. I had “hoop dreams” as one would say. I wanted to be a WNBA player. That's what I said when anybody asked. By 9th grade reality caught up to me and I lost touch of that dream. Being a WNBA player would be almost impossible for me. So would playing basketball in college, but I still want to pursue it. I realized I was way behind in terms of basketball skills compared to other girls in the 2018 class. I adopted a love for biology and math. Those tie into what my real dream is.
Think of a future job that you would like to have. Consider what that job would need to offer to help you be successful.
From the time we’re young we’re asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up”? Some people answer that question by simply following a family member’s footsteps into a certain field. Other people have a dream that guides them into a career. For me it was more of a challenge that drove me into a particular career.
Finding your calling in life can be one of the hardest things to do, for some it is obvious from a young age on what you want to do. For example, my mom has gone on a spree of jobs in her life and she has only recently found something that she actually wants to do. My dad on the other hand knew from a young age what he wanted to do, he liked to tinker and straight after he got out of highschool he knew that he wanted to be a mechanic, and he has stuck with that career path for more than 30 years now. I am currently undecided on what I want to do for the rest of my life, however one of the careers that I am looking at is a law enforcement officer.
Exercise Science is a field of work that is valued by many. There are different paths for different kind of people whether they are interested in personal training, physical therapy, or even some kind of sports coach. The route I would like to take would be Exercise Science for Athletic Training. I want to be an Athletic Trainer because growing up, I loved playing and watching sports. I played baseball for about 2 years, ran track for 3, and played basketball my entire life. After my high school career, I knew that I could not stay involved in sports because all of the injuries I have experienced so I decided I wanted a job that is behind the scenes but still rooted in athletics.
Every year communities struggle each year around the nation with issues of life safety. In 2012, the nation’s fire departments responded to 31,854,000 responses that resulted in the deaths 0f 2,855 civilians and injuring 16,500 causing an estimated $12,427 million dollars in damage. (United States Fire Administration, 2014) These incidents put at risk 345,950 career and 783,300 volunteer firefighters that resulted in the deaths of 81 individuals (U.S. Department of Homeland Security, 2013) and nearly 70,000 reported injuries. ( Karter & Molis, 2013) These numbers represent incidents that are determined to be in the line of duty but do not take into consideration the long-term health risk issues that may develop. Evidence shows that he hazards associated with Fire and Emergency Services are consistent across the board whether paid or volunteer and jeopardize the lives and health of each individual, placing administrative and physical control measures reduces this risk to firefighter within an organization. While it is impossible to eliminate the hazards firefighters face, it is important to identify these hazards as the first step in reducing the potential for loss of life and wellbeing both physically and mentally.
In kindergarten, I wanted to be an ice cream maker. At 8, I wanted to be a forensic pathologist with my own lab. At 10, I wanted to be a pop star. I created my own album and could dance just like Britney Spears. In 2014, I used to draw out plots of land for sale on Google Maps and make house plans for them. One day, I drew out a plot of of land and realized that the acreage that was advertised was not the true acreage of the property, so I called the realtor and told them that they should get money back from the government. I was so young, that the realtor thought I was a woman calling. See, I know now truly that I have potential, but I have no idea doing what. This is where the University of Pennsylvania comes into
My grandmother used to say that what you dream about for your life may not be an exact fit for what your purpose is. Knowing myself and having had an opportunity to discover more about my learning style, working style, and overall personality allows me to look at this assignment in a much different light. Consequently, as I think about the course material we’ve reviewed thus far I think my ideal job would encompass an organization that is rich in culture, pays me a fair salary, yields affordable medical benefits, allows me to continue to grow as an individual, and impacts my life positively so that I may impact the lives of others in the most positive manner
It’s been my desire, longing for a nursing career since I was in my primary and secondary school. At the age of 12, I began to look after children and baby-sitting then, from there, I gained the understanding of how to deal with children. Nursing is one of the highly demanding careers that bring new challenges every day and it comes with various rewards and a real sense of job satisfaction. I chose nursing because it is a profession where you never really finish learning. It has been my dream job since my tender age. Seeing nurses visiting my school treating students, immunisation, teaching us about health and sexual health issues, this encouraged me. My goal and desire at that age have been to help people within the Health sector. That is how; I decided to go to college where I am currently doing my Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science), which involves Biology and Chemistry. I chose this pathway because I want to gain the relevant skills and knowledge of my career to be. As someone who wants to become a nurse, I found biology as an important role in the delivery of client car...
When I began my journey, I had no idea who I wanted to be. Sometimes I reflect back on that hot summer day after graduation when I sat irresolute, pondering my future. I like to think that it was a definitive moment, the first step in my climb up the mountain I know as my dream, and my soon to be reality. Even today as different and grown up as I am, I remain that same 18 year old girl inside, sitting alone on her bed inspired by a multitude of subjects, mad with intention and fevered with determination to actualize her own future, her own way.
What should we do in life? That always seems to be the question. Life is not guaranteed to be easy, never turning out the exact way that we want it to. A lot of people work hard to achieve their dreams of making a massive amount of money and having more than a seven percent return on their 401k plan. Truth is, life is not about the amount of money that we have saved up, it is about what we do to make a difference and how we will make our lifetime worth it. Something that people should set into place is a plan for their future. A plan that would help not only directs their path in life, but the paths of those around them too.
