Introduction:
The school board plans to add one and a half hours to school each day . I strongly disagree about the school board adding a hour and 30 minutes to school hours .
Body Paragraph 1: The school board shouldn’t extend time because children have younger siblings that they have to get off the bus . When their parents are at work or taking care of busy the older siblings have to be the ones who get their younger siblings off the bus and make sure they eat in do their homework.
Body Paragraph 2: Also , children have practice that they have to attend if they extend school hours they will miss practice bad enough that when they get home from practice they have to take a shower , eating , and do their homework . So if they extend time
Do you think that students should have longer lunch and recess time? I think that kids need free time to talk to their friends and socialize. Kids also need enough time to exercise everyday to keep them focused and their energy level low. Another reason they need to have a longer lunch/recess is because kids need time to eat and shouldn’t be rushed at lunch.
School days should be shorter fro students because they do not get enough sleep, have to much homework, and have barley have time to participate in extra curricular activities. A majority of students have sleep depravation due to school. If school would either start or end late students will have a greater opportunity to get more sleep. Teachers expect students to pay attention for 90 minutes while the night before they were up late finishing their homework for there classes. Some teachers do not realize that students have a life and work or have other obligations that take up a major portion of the students.
The Board of Education wants to add hours to the school schedule. The problem proposed is American student’ test scores are falling behind counties in Europe and Asia. To see how more time in school will affect students and test scores, schools in Iowa, North Carolina, and California have increased the time some students spend in class. Some parents and faculty members think extending the school year into the summer could help American students compete academically with other countries, but the school year should not be extended because summer is needed for academic respite, the extension will cost millions, and there is not enough evidence to say that it can boost academic achievement.
Getting up to go to school really early in the morning is more upsetting than having to actually attend school. Almost all high school students would agree that high schools should start later in the morning. Even though high school students should be responsible
In a recent study done by Yucaipa high school, 97% of students believe school should start later. Students should be able to start school at 9:00 a.m. Students should start later because kids will have a better attendance and less tardies. The more sleep students get the more energized they are, as well as having a better mood throughout the day. The majority of the students drive, so the more sleep they have helps decrease the rate of car accidents. Students are late, absent, cranky, and careless this is why school should start later.
My Ridgeview Middle School is thinking about making the school hours longer. I completely disagree about this because I believe it's a little too hard any ways with the time, but now there's upgrading the time and making harder on everyone else.If the schools are making the hours longer then sometimes people need to just stick with what they got and be thankful for what they have because it might be over soon.
We’ve all woken up tired not wanting to go to school, because we didn’t get enough sleep. Of course when I say we, I mean as in teens who go to school, and possibly yourself when at the time in your life. The schedule for school doesn’t fit in very well with our sleep patterns. Sleep experts from the University of Minnesota, have found that later start times made students have a better health measure and over perform better in school (Hoofman 2). Research being done on this topic mostly specifies that bodies don’t agree with the start time, for various reasons. School start times should be pushed back an hour to benefit teens health, and school performance.
The school board plans to add one and a half hours to school each day. I disagree with this decision because it’s cutting into dinner time with families , our little siblings need help getting into the house, and it will cut our sleep time down for school in the morning .
Would you agree to stay in school an extra 2 hours but have Friday all to yourself? Some believe that it will benefit everyone, but it’s not the most beneficial choice. It would take toles out of everybody and people should care because if they have kids they will be affected greatly. We shouldn’t move to a four day school schedule because the cost of school will go up, grades will drop, and parents will register their kids somewhere else.
Have you ever skipped school because you were stressed about a school assignment? Have you ever stayed up until the middle of the night to complete this assignment? We all know that there is approximately seven hours in a school day; however, this does not include the time spent on after-school activities. Most of us engage in clubs and sports. Most of us have jobs and participate in community service.
I strongly disagree with the Dickenson County School Board extending each school day by one and a half hours. I do not feel as if extending school hours will benefit students or staff. An extension of hours will cause students and staff to become more fatigued. Students and staff may not have enough time for socializing or other activities. Plus, regular school days contain enough hours already.
Brett, Jennifer. “8 to 5 Some Educators Like Barnes’ Latest Plan to Improve Schools by Lengthening the Day.” The Atlanta Journal –
Thus causing students’ grades to deteriorate. Only 28% of students support the idea of extending the school day. Students are the reason why the idea was created, but if they do not want it then it does not make any sense. Extending school hours not only makes students tired but it also takes away from their outside
Most children attend school for about 6.5 hours per day. Some people argue that this not enough time for children to master key concepts while others say that children spend too much time in school and on homework which leaves them little time for family or fun activities. “There are many benefits to year-round schooling—including consistency, less time spent relearning material, and the implications that year-round schooling has for closing the achievement gap” (Lynch, 2016, par. 1). Currently, more than 700 schools have extended their day. Massachusetts extended their school day so that it was 8 hours and found that they went up 44 percent in math,19 percent in science, and 39 percent in language arts (“Should students spend more time in
Some may say that adding a twenty minute rest period is illogical because schools would have to extend their days; students would be going to schools longer, so what’s the point? Well, studies show that on average school hours are from 6.22 and 7.17 hours. The average number of hours that schools are open is 6.93 (Education). In reality a twenty minute rest time is very reasonable with the average number of hours of school in America being so low, schools should use some of those extra hours in favor of the student 's well being. For example, adding a twenty minute rest time for kids to take a break, relax, and sleep to refuel before going to their next class; this is a better solution than loading students with homework on top of sleep deprivation and stress. “I agree with your theory, however, I do
