Chemistry teacher, Don Butterfingers, spills sulfuric acid in his room during an experiment. Many student claim he doesn’t follow safety protocol. During second period in Chemistry class Butterfingers was demonstrating to his students how to use sulfuric acid for the lab they were doing that day. Although we teaches students to follow safety protocol a student claims, “…doesn’t use proper safety protocol,” says Tim Glad. Butterfingers said that these allegations are false ,but there isn’t much proof they are. Security was alerted of the spill around 9 a.m. Butterfingers sent Glad to get the security guard while he cleaned the spill himself. This case involved a public high school student, Matthew Fraser who gave a speech nominating another student for a student elective office. The speech was given at an assembly during school as a part of a school-sponsored educational program in self-government. While giving the speech, Fraser referred to his candidate in what the school board called "elaborate, graphic, and explicit metaphor." After his speech, the assistant principal told Fraser that the school considered the speech a violation of the school's "disruptive-conduct rule." This prohibited conduct that interfered with the educational process, including obscene, profane language or gestures. After Fraser admitted he intentionally had used sexual innuendo in the speech, he was told that he would be suspended from school for three days, and his name would be removed from the list of the speakers at the graduation exercises.

I agree that teachers must think before they act and process the best consequence to the action that he or she will or will not do in class. The book makes a point on talking about how teachers must thoughtfully decide if what they are doing every single day. I believe that that is a crucial quality every teacher must have in order to avoid major issues in the classroom. It is amazing how much can change when a teacher, or anyone, thinks about what they are doing before they do it and what are the possible consequences are based on their action. Better than thinking about it, if they talk to one another, as teachers, on how they should act, this would help them even more to make the right decision. I also agree teachers deserve the right to due process, just like everyone else in their profession. Being a teacher is very difficult, and it is very important that teachers are not constantly scared to lose their job with one bad choice. There are so many parents out there who will immediately try to get the teacher fired in any way they can in order for their child to be happy which is very threatening to teachers everywhere. The fact that due process is given to teachers is extremely important for the sanity of teacher’s minds and their performance as teachers. Lastly, I agree with tort liability because teachers must be on high alert at all times with their classroom. Any possibilities of injury in the classroom must be thought about by the teacher and prevented in anyway. Teachers are one hundred percent liable to what goes on in their classroom and they need to pay attention to all kinds of behavior that could lead to danger. This horrible incident took place in a theater where the audience was cast of 2000 women and children. School had been out for Christmas and that gave incentive to many of them to show up to the Wednesday matinee performance of Mr. Blue beard. Later during half way of the show, a spark from a spotlight fell down onto the curtains which caused the fire to start, having the curtain fall down onto those on the stage. The crowd bolted out in chaos, even though there were 27 exits, only a few were open for the audience and actors to storm out of there. This is because that the doors were locked, and the idea of having exits specifically for this type of situation had only originated after the terrible incident. The flame on the curtain grew due to the excessive amount of fuel it had (the stage). Nearly 600 (above 25%) had died inside the theater because of this faulty emergency escape structuring. Many then later died to severe burn injuries in the hospitals. Apparently, there were no fire detection nor suppression systems installed in the theater; the curtains didn’t close properly, the heat vents weren’t working well, the doors were either locked or didn’t open in the proper direction, and nor did they have any type of indication for those who were further away from the theater to easily look for the door. All these violations have placed the manager’s under indictment. But none of them were ever punished. And because of the mass amount in causalities, doors were then rigged so that they can open from the inside no matter what the situation was, and signs were placed on top of them indicating that doors were this direction ( as law would mandate it).
