For our presentation, we were responsible for interviewing a unit secretary. We had good luck proceeding with our project and had an idea to give a unique perspective of the unit secretary by interviewing a session assistant. Session assistant is a position that is a form of unit secretary but with additional responsibilities. Our work started off nicely and we cooperated with each other very well. We agreed that Sasha would conduct the interview and Yoonhee would assemble the PowerPoint. We found a person to interview without much hardship since Sasha had a friend who is currently working as a session assistant. Yoonhee was yet familiar with neither unit secretary nor session assistant while Sasha had a few years of working experience as a session assistant and had the most experience in the hospital and subsequently with unit secretaries. Sasha provided a lot of personal experience and information in addition to the content of the interview. Because of this, we were all able to be on the same page and understand what we were working on as the project progressed. We learned to how to collaborate, respect and be open to each other’s idea, which are the essential components of inter-professional communication in our nursing practice. We also had to adjust ourselves to each other due to our differing schedules and locations, in this way we learned how to plan and manage the time to work on our project. We agreed to use Skype to connect and work on our project. It was a very good idea to communicate through Skype because we could practice for our presentation while giving and receiving feedback each other. In this way, we could open up to each other easily and it also helped us to refine understanding on our work through discussion and explanation on
