Communication is omnipresent in our daily lives and, in everything we do, we use it to achieve understanding and harmony with people around us. It is essential in our learning, leisure, and workplace. In the healthcare industry, effective communication is of vital importance. It is used by colleagues in the team in order to deliver safe, coordinated and effective care. Effective communication is important not only among the medical staff, but between the patient and medical provider as well.
Communication helps people in the healthcare industry in three ways: (1) It helps patients or clients to feel at ease. We all know that hospital is a stressful environment and tensions are high all the time. Good communication reduces anxiety among patient and builds their confidence to the medical staff. Believe it or not, communicating with children affects their perspectives and points of view that can make a crucial effect on their development. Constant communication with kids also affects them behaviourally, socially, cognitively, and even physically. I am at awe on the power and the difference that a few words make to my kids and vowed to be available for them when they need someone to talk to. On my part, I like to think that helping my daughter with her homework has formed a special bond between us.
By completing this assignment, specifically the communication journal, makes me to become aware of how I conduct my everyday conversations whether with family or with patients. Writing each entry allows me to reflect on the conversations that took place and I realized that each conversation is unique and the feelings that it brought out in me is also
