The synopsis of the show is that Delores must be put into witness protection until her court date arrives due to the troublesome fact that she witnessed a gang murder! Delores finds herself go through crazy experiences and gives up fame for family. A few particular moments that surpassed general expectations on stage; A demanding presence of the stage was executed beautifully by Olivia Aubele(Sister Mary Robert) and Noelani Won(Sister Mary Lazarus), Olivia successfully displayed her character’s transformation in a demanding way that was noteworthy, while Noelani a quite comical nun stood out with a smashing performance giving this old gal a spunky personality. On a more comical note, the brotherly trio of Jules Einhorn(Pablo), Alec Boorman(TJ), and Kevin Franiak(Joey) all portrayed each gang member in a different light of personality that brought many comedic moments to the show, especially the song “Lady in the Long Black Dress.” Finally an emotional charisma of Maddie Saldaña(Mother Superior) was interpreted excellently by Maddie, from her many solos to solitude scenes she mesmerized the audience with grace and confidence; as the head of the nuns she managed to take control in a calm, respective way. …show more content…

Winter gets introduced to sister souji who takes her in even though winter gives her a fake name . She asked sister souji if she knew her cousin midnight she said “yes” . Winter had lied and said that her mother was very sick and her mother wanted to see midnight which was her cousin . she asked if she could stay there which sister souji let her for a few weeks till midnight came to get her . Sister souji introduced her to her little sister lauren which who also liked to party and was a bit sneaky . Then the doctor who works down stairs and has her little clinic which winter seems to keeps an eye on because she make 300 dollars each patients . Sister souji gets invited to her friends party who most likely her boyfriend on the low but things don't seems to workout at the moment with his career and lifestyle as a rapper . Which winter sees a big opportunity to snatch and if she sleeps with the rapper she can make him fall in love with her body which is not true at all because the moment she gets a chance to go back to the mansion and gets picked to go up stairs . The theme of “These Shining Lives” is the desire for economic independence, it enhances a women’s self worth and shows the exploitation of women worker’s. The play is a historical drama. The play writes message was to show the audience a women desire for independence and being something other than a wife and mother. It shows the struggles and dangers that a women face in the workplace during that time period. I thought the play was really touching. It made me appreciate being young women in the 21st century. I can’t imagine living in a society that sees a women wanted independence to be strange and different. Women and men she equal and this is especially true in the workplace. I’ve introduced you to Shelby and M’Lynn already; now let me introduce you to Clairee Belcher, played by Olympia Dukakis. Clairee is a wealthy widow of the former mayor of Chinquapin Parish, is a refined southern lady and lover of gossip. Truvy Jones, played by Dolly Parton, is a small town “glamour technician”, gossip and reader of “Southern Hair Magazine”. She believes that “there is no such thing as natural beauty”. Many of the scenes in this movie take place in her beauty shop. Anelle Dupuy, played by Daryl Hannah, is a young woman straight out of beauty school and trying to start over in a new town after her husband mysteriously disappears, along with most of her belongings. Last but not least, we have Ouiser Boudreaux, played by Shirley MacLaine. She is abrasive, eccentric, rude and “richer than God”. She also happens to be my favorite character in the movie. The chemistry between these great actresses is what makes this movie one of the best, if not the best I’ve ever seen. When they are all together, it is movie magic! The dialogue and emotions that are so perfectly portrayed by all, will only leave you wanting more. Some of the gossip sessions are very dramatic and will bring you to tears, but some are so funny you’ll want to pee your pants. The Addams Family’s set, costumes, and lighting all collaborate to create an amazing play that boasts both comedy and drama. There were many decorations and props that stood out to me, but immediately upon entering the lobby of the theater; I was able to view a scene that included a mounted buck and many other eerie decorations. Following the opening of the curtains and the beginning of the play I was able to see a large tree covered in neon green and purple paint on stage right and a cemetery scene with various tombstones in the middle of the stage. In addition to these props there was a large gray moon strategically placed directly above the cemetery. In the corner of stage left there was a large doorframe with a padlock holding it closed. After multiple scenes using this scenery the curtain was closed a for a short minute and when they were opened the backdrop was flipped and showed a mansion scene that included a small painted mantle with round hung portraits above it. The costumes that the characters wore during the play played a huge role in making The Addams Family great. For example, Morticia’s black long witch like dress along with Wednesday’s black dress with white rounded collars added to the gloomy nature of the play. I attended the performance of “The Diary of Anne Frank,” the new adaption by Wendy Kesselman, at the Stage Door Inc Theater in Pasadena at their Friday evening showing. This production is one that I could relate to because I read the novel in high school and while watching this live I remembered details from the novel that was incorporated into this production. The theater was an intimate proscenium stage. There were around 7 straight rows of seating that all faced the stage. The seats were raked so there was no problem seeing. The stage was small but the props and setting was beautifully made.
Romeo changes throughout the book. When Romeo went to the Capulets party, he was in love with Rosaline. He saw Juliet and immediately loved her. In act two scene two it Romeo says this about Juliet, "Two of the fairest stars in all the heaven, Having some business, do entreat her eyes To twinkle in their spheres till they return." He compares her eyes to stars in the night sky. Romeo talks about Juliet and is wanting to talk to her. This shows how Romeo is loving and sweet. In the last act of the book Romeo sees Juliet dead in the tomb. She is not really dead, but he doesn't know that. He kills himself so he can be with her in heaven. Romeo is a very loving person, but in one scene he turns into a very hateful person.
The story of Romeo and Juliet written by the all famous William Shakespeare is truly inspiring. Two star crossed lovers from families that hate each other change this feud around by dying to be with each other. Compared to the original play, Romeo and Juliet the movie by Baz Luhrman has a better representation of the story because the setting relates more to present day and the props and costumes grab the attention of the audience.
The play Sisters, by Wendy Lill, is set in 20th century Nova Scotia at an Indian Residential School. The play focuses on a hopeful 17-year-old farm girl named Mary who was dating Louis at the time. Along with the present Mary who is currently in interrogation with, the duty counsel, Stein. She has been accused of torching down the Residential School, the place where she worked for fifteen years. There are various factors contributing to the impulsive reasoning behind Sister Mary’s act of burning down the Residential School such as, the actual truth to why she committed the sin, the contrast relationships with others that reflected upon her actions, and the overall punishment she should receive.
The comedy itself is entertaining to watch, yet, it holds an important message that human beings need to understand. The main character battles between her desire to live her exotic life, while her reason to live a simple life in the convent exemplifies the power struggles that human beings face every day. Just as Mary Magdalene was condemned and saved by Jesus, Deloris has found her sanctuary and has reached salvation. Director Emile Ardolino utilizes the empowering female roles of nuns to shed a new light on the power structure of religion and discover a unity between religion and ordinary
There is other little differences that I noticed added to the story that were in the movie and not the play. There are several scenes where Mother superior is interacting with Sister Veronica. Because of some of these scenes you see another side of Sister Aloysius that presents a more compassionate lady not so wrapped up in doubt. Although Sister Aloysius comes off as a strict woman that really has no sympathy for anyone or anything, which kind of makes you question how the heck she ended up as a nun. In the movie you can clearly see that she has a softer side and actually is hiding behind that tough façade she puts up.

For my second article critique I chose to attend a play at the CORP Theatre in Rowlett to watch Steel Magnolias. Throughout the play my eyes were immediately drawn to many aspects of the play such as the characters and use of spectacles. My overall opinion of the play was positive. Although, unless you have seen the movie before it could be hard to follow along with.
