Covering tuition and other eligible expenses with a student loan and making no payments while in school is an adequate, but stressful alternative to achieve college education. Coming from a Hispanic family, reaching college level education was not a priority. Going to college for a young Mexican individual who is born and raised in Santa Maria, CA is a very difficult objective to sustain. Personally, my parents never got the chance to finish their education. Both my parents are very hard working individuals; who devoted their lives to work in the strawberry fields to give my siblings and I a better life. Their dream is simply to keep my siblings and me away from the strawberry fields. Sadly, my parents wanting me to obtain a higher education …show more content…
Mentally I was ready to go to college, but financially I wasn't. I had in mind taking out a loan, but I didn't know the first thing about student loans and how loans worked. First, I decided to go out of my comfort zone and ask for help. Luckily, I found a way to proceed my dream of attending college education without the need of a loan I came across a well-informed individual who helped me get information about financial aid. FAFSA is a great alternative for students who have parents with low-income households. FASFA stands for, Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Which is a form that is submitted annually to determine if a student is eligible to obtain student financial aid. Eligibility is determined by the following requirements: being a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen of the United States, having a valid Social Security Number, having a high school diploma or GED, and most importantly being enrolled in 12 or more academic units. Obtaining FASFA can be a hassle, but it is sure worth the trouble. Students get money, which ranges from hundreds to thousands of dollars every year. Which helps to pay for educational books, materials, and even transportation. If one is allegeable for FASFA I suggest one acts upon the opportunity. It is free money that doesn’t need to be paid …show more content…
First off, if loans barrowed are not paid back it would cause an extreme economical chaos. Who would pay the schools, the teachers, and the banks? Sure he proves a point by saying if people aren’t in debt they can stimulate more money into the economy, but the economy needs money stimulation right away. Plus, people who are currently in debt actually do show signs of being able to pay their loans back. So there’s really no need for such a plan. Also what if certain students with huge economical stamina simple see this proposition as a simple way to not spend some of their own money. As a student who currently goes to school and holds a part-time job, this plan seems like a magnificent idea. In reality though there is still a lot in question and quite frankly I don’t see it happening any time soon. Robert’s plan has nothing but good intentions but with a lot in question it is very hard to support
This is important for any student beginning to save for college because they need to understand the various ways they can pay for college besides taking out loans and borrowing from family members. This is currently playing a big role in my life, as I am trying to plan out my future and the money I will need to spend for my education. My goal is to get my undergraduate degree in biology, and after that attend KU Medical School. I will spend around 8 years or more in college, and the amount of money that will accumulate will be far too much for me to pay for all by
If you think your educational expenses are more than you and your family can afford, you should apply for financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You will need to apply for financial aid every year by completing a FAFSA. The FAFSA includes all the information necessary to determine your eligibility and must be completed if you want to be considered for any of the federal programs sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. The FAFSA is available in two formats: paper and electronic. If you complete a paper FAFSA, you will mail it directly to the application processor listed on the FAFSA. Or you can apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov and list school code will receive your processed information.
Every new term a school needs a way to fund its school. Free Application for Federal Student Aid is needed at all colleges for a student to be able to pay their way into the school of their dreams. This form is used to determine the amount of money a family is expected to contribute to the price of attending a postsecondary institution. The results of the FAFSA are used in determining student grants, work study, and loan amounts. Students have two options when preparing their annual, federal student aid application: either prepare the form on the U.S. Department of Education's website or get assistance from a fee-based FAFSA preparation service. Most financial aid is provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and students are encouraged to prepare and submit a FAFSA on the day it opens, January 1 of each year, using income estimates to be updated after taxes are
In Jim Crammers opinion he states, “That would simply pour money onto failing diplomas” (Crammer). That is what the workforce is for. If every student goes to college for a degree with the idea to become rich, then who will work at restaurants, go into the air force, or even stay at home in order to take care of kids or love ones. Life would be totally different. How life is right now is how it will always be due to the economy and the odds of being raised in a family surrounded by lots of money or not is just life. Everyone has their own role and everyone is different, so Obama should not be trying to spend all of America’s money in order to make everyone equal. Students would be better off knowing the situation as to why they live in a poor family due to economic issues or financial needs. But money should not be the reason students go to college or not, so this proposal is not worth the time. There are plenty of scholarships and loans out there that are given to certain people for certain reasons and the only reason someone should have to turn down a community college would be because there is a lack of effort on their own part. They make a community college inexpensive as a way to invite the public to come get an education and if they fail or drop out then they are not out a ton of money. College weaves out the students that do not belong there or want to be there, so forcing them to go with the intentions of telling them it is

Those students are the ones that are unable to attend college if they cannot afford it. College tuition is too expensive,

There are a lot of these types of financial assistant available for students to have access to. There are many websites available online that have all different types of scholarships. The amount that is required for financial aid in college is below $10,000 annually, but by then the person is already expected to be homeless and in debt on that salary. A guy in $50,000 of debt has got to be irresponsible with his money right? Actually, it is more likely that he is a college student. Hundreds of thousands of college students around the country are in a financial predicament because of the government?s impersonal financial aid policies. The federal government?s current system has too many quirks which end up hurting the people that financial aid is supposed to help. The federal government should change its financial aid policies to take several more factors, such as the percentage of educational expenses paid by the student, into account.

In the film, Where to Invade Next, Michael Moore brings up many issues but the one that stuck out the most was the idea of free college and how it worked in other countries. From the film, an individual could come up with a reasonable conclusion, that free college brings more benefit than harm. What is usually meant by free college is in fact the idea of free tuition. Instead of having students be in debt for most of their lives, they can focus on studying and not have to work at multiple jobs. Even after completing college, most students find themselves accepting jobs that do not involve the degree they had received. If the majority of the population received free college, more people would take advantage and therefore,

However, there is college or university that’s not free it, paying for books, tuition, or out-of-state tuition, and transportation. The solution is apply for scholarships and government programs that can help pay for higher education. Some scholarships do not have a grade point average requirement so even if you don’t have the best grades you can still get money to go to college. For some scholarships all one has to do write an essay so these people can see if one student is right for their donation of money.

The people at college are trying to help you, and financial aid is one way that they do that. If you don't get enough money from a school, call them and tell them your situation. In most cases things can be worked out.
