Sitting in my living room every morning before school as a kid I had SportsCenter on the television. I was in love with the idea of sitting around a table and just talking sports. I thought the people on television were living the life, and I wanted to live that life when I grew older. What's better than talking sports all day, watching highlights, and being able to travel to all the big sporting events? In my mind, nothing. From an early age on, I knew I wanted to somehow be involved in the sports media industry.
However, there is more to it than just sitting around the table with your friends discussing sports; only a handful of sports journalist make it to a high level. It takes a strong work ethic to move into the higher ranks of this work field.
"If you are interested in sports journalism jobs, pursue a Bachelor's degree with a major, minor or specialization in sports journalism and apply for an Internship in the sports department of one or more media," (Sports Journalism Careers). Not necessarily do you have to be a journalism major to pursue a career in this industry. The main goal is to get a Bachelor's degree from an institution of higher learning. My major is journalism and I am taking the television, radio route once I attend a higher university in order to receive my Bachelor's degree. In today's world, the employment of sports journalist is trending downwards and will continue that way with "traditional journalism" no longer existent. Having that degree from a four-year institution will significantly increase your odds of finding a job immediately after
When College athletes are recruited to college, most of the time they receive a four year scholarship to go to that university. Why not take advantage and use that four year scholarship to major in some profession. This ensures that if something were to happen down the road in the athletes professional career they would have a backup job. This would be the smartest idea because many athletes endure career ending injuries. With no education they have no job to fall back on, resulting in bankruptcy.
The NFL published an article over his history of being a writer, along with where he attended school. Wyche earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Howard University in 1989, and has 27 years of journalism under his belt. Initially, he covered high school and small college sports. In 2008, Wyche officially became a media reporter for the National Football League. (NFL 3) In the article, only Wyche’s profession is recognized, and a writer’s background can change their credibility if not explained. Although the education and knowledge Wyche has about writing is not provided on the website, the audience can still access that information by a brief search. If the audience is simply reading this article without any further research, what is unknown by the audience is from where this writer originated. Wyche, by not providing his background information in an article, could cause a reader’s skepticism of the content of his
I want to be sportscaster when I grow up because I would like to discuss events with proffesionals. I also couldn’t see myself in life without being connected to sports. Also it seems really cool to be a sportscaster at ESPN because it looks like a cool place to work there.
Sports has been a passion of mines since I was a kid. It was not until the end of tenth grade that I realized how much basketball had influence my. Playing basketball is a way for me to escape from the real world. Playing basketball made everything feel better and made me happier. It also taught me valuable life lessons, such as never given up on my dreams whether it seems impossible. I can not imagine my life without sports and what a better way but to work in the sports industry. My personal goals for getting a degree in Sports Management is to go professional and give back to the community. The reason I want to give back to the community is to help kids find what they love young and let that be their inspiration to be better and to dream
I have been an employee for the Town of Richmond Hill for only a year now, which really surprises me because of how far I have come in this venture. From being a fellow student in swimming lessons, to taking lengthy, more advanced courses; I had finally reached my goal of being hired as a lifeguard/instructor near the beginning of grade 11. Little did I know, that was only the beginning of my journey that led up to me becoming a head coach of my own R.H.L.C team!
Being a Basketball Coach. The reason why i am studying this career is because i want to know what it is like to be a High School, or a College Coach, and a National League Associations (NBA) and just to see how it is to be a coach . My history of this career is that i have been to so many job shadows that are coaches and some coaches are nice too there players and some are very mean. There are a lot of basketball coaches out there and the employment of this job is to make sure your other coaches stay on track with the players to because some of the basketball players just want to go out and party after a game which that is not good for your body to have alcohol or anything else in your body. You can find these jobs everywhere
“I would love for a regular student to have a student-athlete's schedule during the season for just one quarter or one semester and show me how you balance that. Show me how you would schedule your classes when you can't schedule classes from 2-to-6 o'clock on any given day.” said by Richard Sherman. Richard Sherman is right. Living the life of a student athlete is a hard thing to do, we have to go to school, go to practice/games, do our homework to get good grades and stay eligible, and get eight hours of sleep. The life of a student athlete is a more stressful way to live than a non student athlete, but I wouldn’t change it for anything.
Sports public relations is a unique and relatively new field of public relations, only having been in existence since 1919 for collegiate. Stoldt, Branvold & Dittmore (2012) noted that Notre Dame’s head coach Knute Rockne hired young Iowan Archie Ward to serve as the sport publicity for Norte Dame. Ward traveled with the team, ensuring the press coverage for all games was given to various media outlets. Ward’s work would lead to the field of sports information at the collegiate level and sports public relations at the professional level. The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) was founded in 1957, giving sports public relations professionals an outlet for professional growth advancement (Stoldt, 2012, p. 129).

I am not an athlete. Watching sports doesn't particularly interest me either. I have enjoyed and played sports in the past, however mostly as a bench warmer. Despite my lack of physical talent in sports, I have learned a lot from it.
To be an Athlete in a professional league is an extremely hard feat to accomplish, you must work extremely hard to get there and once you’re in the league there is no guarantee that you can have a successful career. Professional Athletes have a certain image to pertain, because so many people watch athletes play on to. Athletes get frustrated and worked up easily having tried to keep their “perfect” image. Many times when an Athlete gets frustrated he takes his rage out on someone, this leads to abusing loved ones. Women typically are the ones involved in domestic violence in cases that involve athletes. Professional sports league lack little to any punishment for the athletes that commit this crime.
Shaming female in the media: A female athlete may never make the headlines for their particular sport, but they will always be seen for the "Wardrobe Malfunction" that took place while they were playing.

Growing up, sports have always played a big part in my life. It did not matter what it was, if it had a ball I played it. I’ve always loved sports and have followed them since I was younger, but my love for sports would never have been what it is today if it wasn’t for one of my best friends growing up as a kid. I remember everyday after school on the bus ride home we would talk about our favorite sport teams and the different sporting events that had just occurred. I remember sleeping on the couch on the weekends just so I could watch sports center and catch up on what was going on at that time. For me, all of my favorite teams were the St. Louis Cardinals and the St. Louis Rams. As I got older, I found my self being intrigued by other teams/players
