Religious prejudice is defined as the act of treating a person or group differently because of what they do or do not believe in. There are many cases throughout history of established religions tolerating other practices. Specifically, religious prejudice is when believers of different religions are treated unequally, either before the law or in institutional settings such as employment or housing. Even in societies where freedom of religion is a constitutional right, sometimes supporters of religious minorities voice concerns about religious prejudice against their group. Cases that are perceived as religious discrimination might be the result of an interference of the religious sphere with other spheres of the public. For a religious establishment to mistreat other religions for being ‘wrong’ ironically puts the oppressing religion in the wrong, undermining its own validity. Religious intolerance is unacceptable in general and more specifically, in the Holocaust and simply the idea that started the Holocaust. People have an inherent right to express their beliefs and not to be treated indignantly and inhumanely based on those beliefs.
Discrimination based on or derived from religion has been a cause of significant suffering. Prejudice directed against people based on their religious beliefs, practice, identification or association has resulted in a wide range of discriminatory practices. Individuals and groups should respect the dignity and worth of all people and should commit to improving the condition of individuals, organizations, and society. Prejudice in general is wrong because it holds us back in every aspect of life such as in relationships, in friendships, in employment, etc. People should also respect cultural, individual, and role differences among all people. Including those based on ethnicity, national origin, and religion. All people deserve to be respected and treated with human dignity. History has taught us an important lesson: if we will remain determined to not repeat the past, and the world would have a better respect and accepting of each other.
Everyone is different and that is what makes the world a wonderful place, at least one would think. But 1944 and 1945 German folks called Nazis discriminated against anyone that was different from them. Nazi soldiers made people feel less o f a person, all because they believed in different faiths. In the story The Night written by Elie Wiesel, a holocaust survivor he tells of the dehumanizing ways of the Nazi soldiers and how they made Jews feel less of a person day by day. Jewish people were at the very top for being different; they were hated by the Nazis. It was believed that everything bad that ever happened were the Jews fault. They went through unfair treatment just because of their religion.

The story of the Holocaust spread and was spread around the globe until over time a few facts became mixed or misinterpreted. These misinterpretations gave anti-Semitics and Neo-Nazis what they needed to stir up controversy on the subject to pull blame away from the Nazi Regime. These ideals are wrong but have led to debates over what is right and wrong on the subject and the people who tell the lies need to be proven wrong.
The disaster known as the Holocaust seems unimaginable. It's hard to imagine just setting back and watching these atrocities being committed to your peers. This is why it is important to understand antisemitism. Because of the antisemitic views that were pushed for two thousand years and accelerated by the Nazi Party, Jews weren't viewed as equal citizens. They were viewed as an inferior race which made the up rise of the Holocaust easy for the average non-Jew to set back and watch.
Last quarter, we had many robbers around campus. So during the night, there were many cops walking along High street to try their best to protect students. However, most cops tended to stop blacks and ask them where they were going and why they hung out so late at night. Why do people suspect blacks? There must be a reason. Some people may say that most students reported that blacks attacked them. But there were several cases showed that the robbers were whites. In my opinion, prejudice might be the reason why the police suspect blacks around school. “Prejudice is a negative attitude toward an entire category of people, often an ethnic or racial minority.” (Schaefer, 2008, p. 248) Even though the emancipation of slaves happened hundred years ago, prejudice and bias still remain in this society. We might dislike our roommate because he or she talks really loud and does not shower. And it is considered prejudice. However, if we stereotype him or she based on race or religions, it is a form of prejudice. It is true that we tend to define other people from our own perspectives. If prejudice forms, it may affect people’s behaviors. But what can prejudice lead to? How prejudice forms? And are there any methods that we can use to reduce prejudices? When it comes to prejudice, we may first think about discrimination and ethnocentrism, which are the negative effects of prejudice. Prejudices can result in discrimination and it may result from ethnocentrism. Besides, prejudice and bias result from subjects we do not know. And we can reduce prejudices.
Sexual discrimination, also known as gender discrimination is prejudice based on the sex of a person. Throughout history, discrimination against people of any kind, for countless reasons, have led to many catastrophes. While sexual discrimination may not seem to bring any sort of impending doom, it causes traumatic effects on individual worldwide. It does this by affecting many aspects of a person’s life, such as their emotional and physical well-being. Sexual discrimination also plays an effect on religion. Prejudice and discrimination have both been prevalent throughout human history. Prejudice deals with the inflexible and irrational attitudes and opinions that are held by others of one group against those of another. Discrimination on the other hand refers to the behaviors directed against another group. Prejudiced individuals have preconceived beliefs about groups of people or cultural practices. There are both positive and negative forms of prejudice, however, the negative form of prejudice leads to discrimination. Individuals that practice discrimination do so to protect opportunities for themselves, by denying access to those whom they believe do not deserve the same treatment as everyone else. An example of discrimination based on prejudice involves the Jews. “Biased sentiments and negative stereotypes of Jews have been a part of Western tradition for centuries and, in fact, have been stronger and more vicious in Europe than in the United States.
