Quinoa is a grain that noteworthy for a healthy diet plan these days. In grocery store, people can find many different types of grains such as rice, wheat, and flour. Moreover, the new kinds of grains, lentil and quinoa, occupy the big amounts in section of supermarket according to growth of attention about maintaining good condition of body. Especially, quinoa is being recognized as one of nutritious grain that easy to approachable. Firstly, quinoa is ancient harvest product, originated from Bolivia and Peru. It usually cultivated in the Andes Mountains over 5,000 years ago and became main food staple for native people. Incan, which is native people, believed in that quinoa has power to increase the stamina of warriors. Quinoa means “mother grain” in Incan language, also, it used for their ceremonial rituals. It has mild flavor and crunch texture when it is raw, but it turns to soft, fluffy, and nutty flavor after cooking. Quinoa can incorporate many other recipes, for example, make bread with quinoa flour instead of regular flour and add raw quinoa into cookie batter without using oatmeal. Also, quinoa is well known as great substitution for pasta, rice, or couscous, which are carbohydrates. Too much intake of carbohydrates makes body to turn those carbohydrates to fat and store into the body. Therefore, some substitution of pasta or white rice by quinoa helps to decrease amount of fat. Since quinoa is considered as a healthy and useful ingredient that can fit anywhere, there are many recipes that applicable from appetizer to dessert. The advantages of quinoa are high in nutrients within amino essential acids that human body needed for through one cup, and easily utilize into daily diet plan as well.
