These people want these programs defunded and the clinics shut down. But what these people chose to ignore is the positive things this organization does. For example 491 countries have a Planned Parenthood clinic. This organization sees and treat an average of 2.6 million patients a year. Planned Parenthood serves mainly women who have low-incomes and qualify for government help in order to pay for birth control. Planned Parenthood serves mainly women in public programs. According to the Guttmacher Institute in 2010, publicly funded clinics in the U.S. averted 1.7 million unwanted pregnancies, including 374,000 teenage pregnancies. In today’s world that has changed drastically. Families are now very different, they may consist of either a gay or lesbian or heterosexual couple with biological children of their own or children they adopted. Families may be formed by married or unmarried couples they may or may not have children. They may consist of aunts, uncles, grandparent or even cousins. I don’t believe that alternative family lifestyles and relationships will become less prevalent with time.
