Pierre-Auguste Renoir was a French artist who was a leading painter in the development of the Impressionist style. He was born February 25, 1841 in Limoges, France and died December 3, 1919 in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France.

Luncheon of the Boating Party (also known as Le dejeuner des canotiers) by Pierre-Auguste Renoir is oil on canvas. It took Pierre-Auguste 6 months to complete, and it was finished in 1881. The dimensions are 4' 3" x 5' 8". The painting shows Renoir's friends sharing food, wine, and conversation on a balcony at the Maison Fournaise restaurant in Chatou. The painting also shows the changing times in France, the restaurant is welcoming people of all classes, businessmen, women, artists, actresses, writers, critics, seamstresses, and shop girls.
