In our time on Earth we will have problems, it’s just a fact of life. Our issues will all be different and unique to ourselves, but sure enough, we will have problems. Most of the time running away seems like the easiest solution. Though running away may seem more comfortable, that is not what Scripture teaches. The Bible is full of all kinds of authoritative wisdom to help combat our struggles and to encourage us during our times of strife.
As humans, running away when trouble occurs is a common knee-jerk reaction that we see throughout all of life. One example we see quite early in time, is Jonah from the Bible. Jonah was called by God to do a very scary thing, so, out of fear, he disobeyed God and fled. Another example we see is from the movie The Sound Of Music. In The Sound of Music, we see Maria run away because she was overwhelmed, felt inadequate, and afraid of the emotions she was feeling. In fact, in John 16:33, Scripture even tell us to EXPECT problems! In the midst of our dilemas Philippians 4:6 says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Though trusting in God to take care of our requests is hard, Jeremiah 29:11 says ”For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” The Bible also says in 1 John 4:18, “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. “ When it comes down to it, our solution of running away seems easiest, when we are struggling, but in the end, the best possible thing we could do is to turn to Scripture and search it for wisdom and advice that will help us solve and work through our
