“You have to do your homework pages tonight everyone. Make sure you do them and no excuses. See you tomorrow,” Mrs. Samuels said. As everyone packed up and went to their lockers, my best friend approached me. “Hey, Alitia! Can you wait so we can walk together?” Brenda asked. “Sure! I’m almost ready. I just need to put a couple more books in my backpack.” My best friend and I decided to walk home that day. It was really cloudy and I was surprised that it hadn’t rained yet. Outside felt so stuggy and and it had smelled like it rained already. As I got home and walked in the door, I sat down at my dining room table and took my homework out. The first thing I took out was my Language Arts homework. As I was turning the pages, I had noticed that I must have ripped out the homework page before and didn’t realized. I thought maybe she would understand that I didn’t have the homework page and could not do it. As my teacher Mrs. Samuels came around the classroom checking homework, she came to me and said, “Alitia, where’s your homework”. I said, “ I didn’t do it because I didn’t have the homework page”.
