I would like to thank the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation and its Sponsors for continuing my scholarship award for a 2nd year. Being able to receive this great scholarship is a great honor and as a 2nd year recipient, I know that I must continue to uphold the honor this award deserves.

My Father served in the Marine Corps, and thanks his service, the Marine Corps was able to greatly influence my life. Due to my Father being a Marine I grew up understanding the honor and sacrifice that our servicemen and women devoted to our great Country. My Father, however, was not the only one in my family to serve in the military. There is a long line of family members that served in the Armed Forces as well. Since most people do not know where that is, it is about an hour away from Canada, in Upstate New York, and near the Adirondacks and Lake Placid or Saranac Lake. I am majoring in biology and pre-medical studies. At Clarkson, I am part of the Minority Association for Pre-Medical Students (MAPS), The Community of Underrepresented Student (CUPO), the Clarkson Intercultural Ambassadors (CIA), and the Clarkson University Honors Program. So, at school I have a lot of activities and not a lot of free time, which includes my work load. This generous scholarship that was awarded to me will greatly free up my time to continue my studies, without having to worry about seeking out other scholarships. I will also be able to ease some of my burdens about my future financial situation by carrying a lower student loan balance. Also, receiving this scholarship will help me further my goal of becoming a medical doctor, and graduating from medical school. After graduating medical school and becoming a doctor, I plan to head into the field of psychiatry. This very generous scholarship will help fund another year of college, so that I may achieve these lofty goals in the future. My short terms goals for college are to maintain my excellent GPA.
