The more I grow adding value in my life as a servant leader, the more I add value to those I serve. This is achieved through listening stories of their hopes and dreams. In case of St. Paul School, I learn from parents what is valuable for their children and then lead based on what I have learned.

Leaders with high communication skills are good at inspiring, motivating, and to influencing individuals by words toward a common or shared goal. Servant Leadership, found in Chapter Ten of the text Leadership: Theory and Practice, is a paradoxical approach to leadership. It begins with the innate desire to serve first, and then lead through servant hood. Servant Leadership, originating in the early 1970s, is similar to the skills and styles approach, focusing on leadership from the leader’s viewpoint and his behavior under the leadership. Under this style of leadership, the leaders are considerate of the followers needs, empathizing with and having compassion for the followers. A servant leader feels a social responsibility to the less privileged and is concerned with inequality among the followers. Through servant leadership, a servant leader will attempt to correct these social injustices and by enabling and empowering the followers while helping the followers in developing valuable personal skills. Servant leaders are ethical, projecting strong moral behavior towards the followers, taking leadership paths that serve the greater good of an organization, the community and even society as a whole.
The interactive process between leaders and followers involves utilizing listening and communication skills (Northouse,2013). Leaders in servant leadership listen first and use empathy to better understand their followers. Empathy is the ability to better understand an individual by placing yourself in their shoes. Having this ability allows the follower to feel validated and worthy (Northouse, 2013). by finding solutions to personal problems a follower may have, is offering support. Awareness, or emotional intelligence, is another trait a servant leader possesses. Leaders must be aware of how their actions affect their followers. This can be how they dress or their correspondence in an email Northouse, 2013).

In the first major paper on stakeholder theory, Edward Freeman and David Reed state that a stakeholder is "Any identifiable group or individual on which the organization is dependent for its continued survival." (Freeman and Reed 89) Given that these groups' input are all vital part of an organization's success, creating solutions that benefit all stakeholders is important for long term success. Solutions that conflict with the interest of one of the stakeholders, could result in that stakeholder withdrawing the support that the organization needs to survive. When leaders of an organizations are servants first, when they "make sure that other people’s highest priority needs are being served" (Greenleaf , “The Servant as leader” 3), then the organization's stakeholders will be invested in the organization's continued success and as a result will be more likely to lend it their support.
