Homemade remedies to relief the effects of sunburn have been used for thousands of years all around the world with reportedly positive effect, but the modern zeitgeist flaunts a skeptical eyebrow at anything that hasn't been methodically tested in laboratory. Here are 7 home remedies for sunburn relief.

Cold water - One of the best remedies for sunburn in any of its forms: cold shower, cold compress or in a cream mixed with some other substances. Given that the human body consists of 70% of water, this is one of the first aspects to tackle during the treatment of sunburn. Cold water in contact with the skin helps to hydrate it and to relieve the burning sensation. During bath, other beneficial substances - like aloe vera - can be added to the water pool for improved healing effect. If the skin is too dry, however, certain soaps should be avoided in order to not disrupt the pH levels any further.
