UVB rays are the shorter wavelength rays of the two. The UVB rays don't penetrate into the skin as deeply as UVA rays. But they do cause some major damage because of more minor mutations of the DNA that more commonly lead to sunburn or skin cancer. The longer wavelength of rays is known as UVA rays.
