Building a relationship among two people can sometimes appear to be an unbelievably complicated task for both parties. It might be easy to get into relationships with a person we like, but it seems to require much effort from both parties of the process to keep relations on the appropriate level and within definite flow. One would need to pay attention to the needs of other people as well as to the way one behaves towards his partner. In regards to such need, communication in relationships is an important aspect one needs to consider. Breaking up can usually have different basic beliefs and principles of life, which is even more common reason for breaking up. Conflicts around basic and natural needs of partners involve fierce process of finding a solution which often fail. This idea corresponds to the situation in a movie, where basic concerns about life of partners differ a lot. On one side, there is Gil who is a romantic character who believes in power of word and magic and who does not like living just as everyone would. Thus, conflicts they are involved in influence their relationship satisfactory and bring it down. In regards to it, how people decide to solve it is the question of whether relationships will develop further with success. Unfortunately, Gil and Inez choose a wrong method of coping with conflict. Their conflict type belongs to destructive type, according to Morton Deutsch (1973). Destructive conflict tends to be competitive, and relationship-damaging in nature. If we consider this nature of such conflicts, destructive behaviors involve negativity, sometimes hostility, and lack of agreement (Deutsch). Respectively, such conflict strategy leads to an end of relationships, which is represented in the film. Gil breaks up with Inez since she did not want to understand him and to provide support for what he does and what he thinks. In this situation, he believes that his own passion would bring happiness to him, and he sees no sense in making them with Inez suffer from such conflicts for all the time.
