1. One of the reoccurring themes that became apparent throughout the interview was the concept of relationships, culture and avoidance in dating. Dating is the process whereby two people meet socially for companionships, beyond the level of friendships with the aim for suitability as a partner in an intimate relationships or marriage. The process of dating is impacted by past experiences, family dynamics, cultural, beliefs and customs. These relationships produce a strong connections between family members, education, cultural. The interviewee discussed how similar personalities is important Personality is the individual differences among people in behavior patterns, cognition and emotion. The characteristic patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving. Personality traits is important to determine the compatibility of a partner. It is important to have good personality while dating because it has a long term impact of the relationships. From Interview 2 he realized having an s personalities is important in a relationship because, his viewed his parents’ marriage as non-compatible because they are very different. For example, “. I will not marry a women who does not have the same practice or ambition. The same likeness. She is my best friend and do what I do”. While interview 1, she realized similar personalities is important while viewing her parents’ marriage. She realized her mother outgoing complimented her fathers, understand and patient personality. She stated, “, my mother is really outgoing and adventures and my father is quiet and supportive. I see how my mother is able to follow her dreams without sacrificing her beliefs and my father is supportive because he is satisfy within the relationships”. It plays an important role to develop personalities, thoughts and ideas. It can help strengthen communications skills, which is the ability to convey the needs and desires to a person partner. Dating allows many people the opportunity to find their spouses. It was evident in there interview that both participants dated or was dating to find a spouse. Both interviews found dating as a positive experience and both were satisfied in there dating process. Dating was a source of enjoyment and recreations and forms experiences as a form of entertainment. It establishes social confidences, learn social skills, cooperation’s and conversations. It is evident how important communication is throughout the interviewees responses. Interview #2 realized, how consideration is important in a relationship. He recounted the time a woman made him search for hours for a cheaper item but, wasted more time and energy just to save money. It is not all about communication” . It says that not surprisingly those couples who reported communicating more effectively showed the highest satisfaction with their relationships. But the next two reasons which were also the only other ones with strong links to couple happiness, were knowledge of partner which included everything from knowing their pizza-topping preferences to their hopes and dreams and life skills like being able to hold a job, manage money, etc . Belongingness is an emotion that everyone longs to feel throughout the course of their lives. Starting in adolescence, we as humans are naturally attracted to others in a romantic way. Girls in junior high start wearing make-up and dressing nice in order to impress the boys and get their attention. During this time, both girls and boys want a boyfriend or girlfriend, and are interested in this idea of “dating.” As boys and girls progress into high school, dating becomes even more of the thing to do. As a young teenager, I wanted to date, but my parents were against it. Many parents have a negative outlook about dating because of the consequences it may lead to, mainly sexual activity. Some believe that dating has changed drastically for the worse, but Beth Bailey believes differently. In Bailey’s article entitled “From Front Porch to Backseat: A History of the Date,” she analyzes the history of dating and how numerous people have not conceptualized this idea correctly. By showing authority, evidence, and values, Bailey presents an effective argument about the history of dating.
Dating back to the early 1900’s and all the way through to the present, romantic relationships have been viewed differently. From strict unwritten dating regulations to not having regulations at all, recent generations have become more liberated in making their own decisions. The progressing times have made us become a more accepting society and have caused a decrease in the strong practice of religion and class. Even though differences such as religion and class in relationships were more than an issue they were not always a complete deterrence.
Some experiences one cannot remember, such as the first year of life. Though we cannot remember this time of our life, we discovered and developed reactions to our world. Parent interaction is needed in this time to help develop a sense of trust; therefore, parents are a big deal as we develop. They are the ones we look to know how to respond to the environment around us. We develop some fears because our parents are afraid of them and we develop likes and dislikes based on what our parents’ interests are. Personality is a collaboration of our reactions to the world. Every culture has its own unique values, beliefs and norms. Culture defines the identity and interests of a society. Understanding other’s culture is crucial in preparing ourselves for the global experience in the twenty-first century. As the world is becoming more connected to each other, interaction between cultures is unavoidable. I consider myself lucky to live in one of the most diverse cities in the world where I get chance to interact with people of different cultures. In this paper, I will discuss my findings about Family Structure in a Mexican culture, and Dating and Marriage in an African / Gabonese culture. Having a chance to understand various cultures, I realized that beliefs and practices tend to vary from culture to culture.
Indian dating was orderly and the documentary Meet the Patels featured many successful couples that were happy after following the Indian dating culture. Social status has played a major role in many different aspects of life practically since the beginning of time. Social status acts as a label for one’s predicament of living. Such a label directly affects day-to-day tasks, opportunities, and interactions. Generally, how we perceive others is a determining factor for the value we place upon them to our lives. For this particular study, I will be focusing on how social status affects dating/relationships. Dating is the basis of any intimate relationship that can potentially lead to a long-term arrangement such as marriage and pro-creation.
The two types of dating are very different in many ways. The worldly way is enjoyable, but can cause many consequences while the godly way has more restrictions, but can lead to a happier and more successful love life. Therefore, it is the reader that must decide for him or herself what is better. Dating is a serious matter either way. In general we must make sure we have healthy relationships. Having a healthy relationship includes maintaining good communication, resolving conflicts in an orderly and friendly way, but also getting past the hurt of past relationships (Robinson). Following a healthy relationship can lead to memories of happiness with the one you are in love with.
A quote taken John McKeon which served as a very accurate representation of teenage life and culture in the 50’s. But, of course, the teenagers didn’t care about the rules in this decade, especially in North America. With newfound freedom from an economic boom after WWII which didn’t require teenagers to work anymore, teenagers, with a lot more free time, did all sort of things like listen to “rock n’ roll” and “bop” or go dating or adoring black rock stars, all of which were considered “rebellious”. The lists of “rebellious” activities are endless in number and some are quite ridiculous by today’s standards. However, the only reason teenage life is what it is today, is solely because of the sometimes “rebellious” acts of independence from teenagers in the 1950’s. The creation of modern dating, the outlandish and irresponsible appearance of teenagers, and the unapproved interests and behaviour of teenagers all made very good points of proving their independence as teenagers. Despite having little to no presence before WWII, the teenagers of the 1950’s would drastically change the definition of the term “teenager” and change the lifestyle and culture of teenagers for decades to come and did it all without even knowing the legacy they would leave.
In conclusion, personality is a term that refers to the many patterns of similarities and patterns of differences among individuals. There are various ways with psychologists have examined individual differences in personality including the use of genetics. Through this method, psychologists have mainly examined biological underpinnings that contribute to individual differences in personality. While these measures provide some insights regarding personality, individual differences in personality cannot be adequately explained with reference to genes because of the weaknesses of these theories and the effect of environmental factors.
Dating in our culture is a mysterious thing. The actual definition of a ‘date’ is different for certain people, in certain places and at a certain point in time. Even so, trying to define what dating really is very difficult. But in a general understanding of the term, dating is two people spending time together and going out and doing things, without any real sense of commitment towards each other. That is, they are both generally free to go on dates with other people as well. Focusing on heterosexual dating, there are many patterns or rituals that go into the whole concept of dating. These are hard to tag, because dating rituals are often distinct to particular settings. However, dating rituals have visibly changed throughout the twentieth century, and it is largely due to an advancing society. The advancement of women’s rights, the sexual revolution, and a more liberal and accepting society all help contribute to this change.
Personality is the expression of a person’s traits according to ones feelings, mentality and behavior. It involves understanding individuals’ traits such as withdrawal and willpower and how various parts of an individual link together to form personality. Personality expresses itself from within an individual and is comparatively regular throughout in an individual’s life. Different people have different personalities dependent on factors such as environment and genetic composition. Our personality is dependent on the success or failure of our development in the eight stages of life. This is proposed by Erik Erikson. Success in the development stages lead to virtues while the failure leads to malignancies.
Communication: this is fundamental in relationships because if there is no communication then there is no relationship. It is also the way to solve problems and bring up issues that can be attended too. We build a relationship using communication by interacting using common interests or opinions.
Internet using has increased rapidly since (Fox, Anderson, and Rainie, 2005; Morales, 2009). According to current population survey data, 37% of U.S. households had at least one computer in 1997; by 2003, this number was 62%. Over the same time period, households with Internet access increased from 18% to 55% (Day, Janus, and Davis, 2005). Technology provides people a stage to meet with each other. There are lots of social networks, for example, Facebook, twitter, and Instagram. In addition, there are lots of certified websites for people to find the suitable daters. People can scan other’s information directly online and that is easier for them to make choice. Once people join a dating website, you can create your own profile before you start contacting with potential matches, and that is convenient because you don’t need to introduce your basic information when you chat with each daters. Most websites allow people to set up with individual information where he or she can find your personal interest, personality, body type, work, and physical attributes. In addition, the dating website provide a chance to include your personal photo in your profile. Before a few decades, people didn’t have lots of advanced technology. Therefore, it’s hard for them to have huge variety of potential matches. People should have face-to-face dating with each dater, and that would make them feel stress and pressure. Lots of women feel
Interpersonal relationships are those that we have with other people. Communication between others is essential to human survival. We communicate to get what we need: food, affection, knowledge, understanding, money, the list goes on. In these relationships, we build our image of ourselves, learn to trust, and sometimes fall apart. This paper will analyze interviews discussing what happens in their real life experiences with relationships and compare how they may differ from person to person.
