I was excited to see your opening for a financial administrator position, and I hope to be invited for an interview. I received the job information from the NURAP email. The requirements and qualifications align well with my experience, education, skills and background.

My background includes financial reporting & analysis, and public accounting. I graduated from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in May, 2015 with a Master of Science degree in Accounting and a Certificate in the Business of Life Sciences. I am pursuing the CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license in Illinois. Now, I passed three sections. I plan to pass the last one by the end of this year.

I am not afraid of any new tasks. Actually, I am excited to take the challenge. I am able to master any new tasks within one week. I learn from the experienced staff, by looking up resources online, and by reaching out to the school functional departments. This year, MSS experienced tremendous turnover in financial operations. Two leaders left, without fully handover. Except for the effort entry and journals, no one knows how to run the department payroll. At that time, I took over payroll and reached out to the HR/Compensation, Payroll, and the dean’s office to learn the process. Now, I independently manage the department payroll, including hosting the weekly payroll meeting and working with the research administrators on any issues related to grants/awards. I am very flexible and can adapt to the new environment well. I am also organized and detailed-oriented. I rarely if ever need colleagues to follow up with my work. Since I took over payroll, MSS significantly reduced paper journals. I always respond to inquiries from colleagues on a timely basis. My new manager Haifei Wang considers me as “always on top of
