Healthcare Career: Registered Nurse There are several titles you may receive when pursuing a degree in the nursing field Including advance practice nurses such as nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, certified nurse midwives, and certified registered nurse anesthetists. For this paper, we will examine the job title, for that of a registered nurse ADN only. This shall include a short definition of the occupation itself. Registered Nursing Definition Registered nurses treat patients in varying health care settings. I have great study habits and don’t let very much interfere with this while I am working through a class. My family fully supports my decisions to return to school, and I am hoping that my life experience and maturity will keep me ahead of the curve. Hopefully, barring any unforeseen interference, I will be submitting my application by the summer of 2018. One semester at a time has become my mantra. My immediate short term goals are to get through my last three science classes and submit my application to the program. Hopefully, with hard work, I will be admitted right away. I have a few ideas toward which specialty I would like to pursue but am hoping that clinical work will solidify my decisions in that department. The next step is to graduate with my ASN/RN and pass the NCLEX. From this point, I plan to find an entry level position and gaining experience that will help me land a position I am truly passionate about. My long term goals are to work while I pursue my bachelor's degree. Currently, I am interested in working in either pediatric cardiology or labor and delivery. Perhaps getting certifications in one of these areas. I know that once I am in the field I may change my mind and go in a completely different direction but since I can’t see that far down the road this is my rough outline.
