Social work professionals have been setting the foundation around intervention and achievements, which has been a proven constructive way for direct practice. This perspective aims to figure out their skills, any achievements, or things that the client is most proud of. If they have supportive relationships with people, the health care professional is in the position to develop a trusting and communicating atmosphere between the professional and client, which could also evolve into a supportive system of the two stakeholders. This strength based perspective encourages positive forces, and it is meant to establish a positive and well-rounded situation. The focus is for the client to broader their horizon, which allows a client to dig deeper and believe in oneself. Clients often possessed the skills and knowledge they need to cope with in life, but they do not access or used them. Greene (2005) articulated that it is important to get the client to utilize or identify those strengths (p. 20). The social worker professional wants to look for the good in people and have them bring up those strengths that they may possess. Positive thoughts and beliefs are a part of the composition of the strengths perspective. Littrel (2012) expressed that enforcing or encouraging behavior clients can adapt and adhere to when they are setting goals and intervention plans. In the strengths perspective, people are recognized as having many strengths and the capacity to continue to learn, grow, and change: they can continue to be cultivated and motivated to be developed.
