Proving my Pointe

People like to debate that dance is not a sport, but I would have to disagree. Dance is one of the hardest sports out there. Most of the people who say dance is not a sport don’t know half of what it really takes. Dance takes just as much hard work and dedication than any other sport. Our workouts are not easy! We are worked pretty hard sometimes and our teacher yells at us just like football. If you play football, you see the workouts are very similar to dance workouts. Dance can also benefit football players. Players that take a ballet class are likely to be much better than those who don't because it helps with their balance and jumps.

The definition of a sport is an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. Dance is a sport because it meets those expectations. Yes maybe anyone can dance, but not everyone can dance great and with such a passion. I believe that people underestimate dancers because it is very physically and mentally to them. We aren't weak or cry babies. Dancers can’t just practice their routines in class and expect to perfect it. I set goals and I work hard for those goals no matter how tough they are to accomplish because I am determined and when I reach them it makes me feel good. Although dance means everything to me, it does take up a lot of my time and I never have time for anything else. Dance is not easy at all! I am sore most of the week just from dance.
