In order to judge the differences between the correlational and experimental research first you need to know what they are. I will take you thru both correlational and experimental research before comparing the two.

Correlational research- As the name sounds, the scholar looks to establish the relations between the two variables. In correlational research, there is little to no attempt made by the examiner to force the variables. The whole purpose of using correlations in research is to figure out which variables are connected. (Devin Kowalczyk). The examiner will record the values of the different variables and then will try and see if there is a joining with the variables as when an examiner records values of blood pressure and cholesterol …show more content…

Experimental research is what a lot of people think of a being more scientific. Its in our nature to unconsciously want to find out what occurs to us when changes are offered in variables. As in the example provided above about blood pressure and cholesterol levels, a research can deliberately increase the blood pressure of a subject and then take down his or hers cholesterol levels to see if there is any changes in his or her blood pressure. If changes happen in one variable lead to changes in another variable, a examiner is in place to say there is a something happening between the two.

The distinction between correlational and experimental research is. It is experimental research that can make a causal relationship between variables. Correlational research there is no effort whatsoever made by the examiner to influence the variables. The examiner merely reports the values of the variables and then tries to create relationship between the two. Correlational research can establish a correlation between two variables without stating causal relationship. So, even though scientists know that in most cases of medical depression people have been discovered with low levels of neurotransmitters like serotonin and epinephrine, they do not make a fundamental association that low levels of neurotransmitters are blamable for depression in
