¨Grease is the word¨, and ¨what team? Wildcats¨ are well known phrases that emerged decades apart, yet come from almost the same movie. With a twenty eight year age gap between the movies Grease and High School Musical, there was bound to be some differences in the way the characters handled their problems. The leading characters being protagonists, Sandra Dee with Danny Zouko and Gabriella Montez with Troy Bolton all being influenced by how their time period saw women. Grease takes place in the 1950’s; a period often viewed as one of conformity. Sandra and Danny portrait traditional gender roles; she desperately craved his approval (evidence). In these movies the best way for the characters to express these feelings, was through song. Grease used the lyrics ¨My head is saying fool forget him my heart is saying don't let go¨ sung by Sandy during her rough patch with Danny, while danny sang ¨ there's nothing left of me love has flown all alone, I sit and wonder why¨. These characters are going through their first real heartbreak, and neither one of them knows how to explain how they are truly feeling so they put their thoughts into song. The same is true for High School Musical when Troy and Gabriella have deep inner thought about how they are unable to decipher what their hearts wants, as evidence by Troy's words¨My heads in the game but my heart's in the song¨” (Ortega, Kenny n.pag). Troy explains his fear of losing his social status buy being incapable of deciding because of the fear of what others may think. ¨ have you ever thought of trying something new but more worried of what your friends might think?¨ (Ortega, Kenny n.pag). Troy is in the middle of an internal conflict about whether to pick his social status or his dreams, ¨whenever he had to face his peers regarding the truth, he denies it to keep his social status intact¨ ( D.,Sunshine n.pag.). The transcendentalist ideal of nonconformity is a prevalent theme in the 2006 Disney movie series, High School Musical. The depiction of a modern high school emphasizes nonconformity in contemporary society through its illustration of Troy Bolton, a basketball player, challenging the social norm by auditioning for the school musical. Throughout the progression of the film, Troy refuses to comply with the demands of his father and peers, as they frequently call for him to not partake in the play because he is a basketball player. With Troy’s rejection other students begin to assert their unique talents that defy their stereotypes. Another basketball player, Zeke Baylor, asserts his culinary talents and Martha Cox, despite her intellectual abilities, establishes her dancing skills. Emerson and Thoreau would support Troy’s repudiation of societal pressures and his ability to refuse to conform to the precedents set forth by society.
You don’t often think of heroism when you think of Greasers, but there are a few exceptions. I think that the character I have picked are very heroic, brave, and just overall great people.
Grease the hit music sensation of the late 70’s and early 80’s took the Hollywood industry by storm. Not only is Grease a classic, but it was the start of theme of high school musicals. There is an enormous amount differences between Grease One and Grease two, it’s almost heart breaking. The music and theme are completely different it’s difficult to tell that it’s a Grease sequel.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a great example of how by observing settings and conversations one can easily find the economic state of a nation, fictional or nonfictional.
In the novel The Great Gatsby and the play A Streetcar Named Desire the main characters James Gatsby and Blanche Dubois have a lengthy search for love. Both characters go about their search in similar and different ways. The characters choose illusion over reality, but the way in which they go about it differs. Also in an attempt to impress, both characters try and “buy” love by using material possessions to attract people to them. Although Gatsby and Blanche devote a lot of their lives to finding true love, their searching leaves them unsuccessful.
Both All the Pretty Horses and No Country for Old Men have a lot in common between the common setting, style, and themes of the stories. The common setting for both is the borderlands between Texas and Mexico. The sparse setting in both cases helps to create a desolate mood, where the events of the story seem more lifelike and intense. The same style is employed by McCarthy in both books, both have longs descriptions and imagery coupled with a lack of heavily structured and punctuated dialogue. The themes of both stories seem to emulate that desire to survive and thrive within the context of the situation the character is residing within. Quick believed in satisfying his fans, so in return, he began production of a film based on the novel, which was released on November 16, 2012. The film thrived and was rewarded with an oscar, along with several other awards. Although they were both very successful, there were still many differences between the novel and the film. The main contrast between the two was the way each of the characters and relationships were portrayed in the novel compared to the film.
They were a team of determined and decisive girls ready to win. After a season heaved with losses, this game changed the girls’ playing habits and endurance. The game was very close the whole time, with Victoria Park holding a small edge of an advantage of one or two baskets the entire game. Within the last nine seconds, Emery caught up and advanced leaving Emery the winner. The girls played their hardest but were not able to catch up in time. The game was declared a loss for Victoria Park by just two points. Nonetheless, no loss was able to reduce the high spirits of the school’s team because they had still qualified for the playoffs. Director Tim Burton is widely known for his grotesque, unique, and often outlandish style. A style in which, most notably, encompasses the use of extreme makeup and costuming. Burton employs the use of makeup and costuming to help the audience what a character represents and to help the audience understand a character’s personality. Throughout the movies “Big Fish,” “Edward Scissorhands,” and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” Burton used makeup and costuming to help form characters and communicate with the audience.
The Edmonton Grad’s are an exceptional winning team, truly champions; their success can be attributed not only to natural ability but also to strong leadership, dedication, sportsmanship and determination. Beginning as a high-school team to representing Canada, the Edmonton Grads dominated women's basketball from 1915-1940, winning 93% of their games and 49 out of a possible 51 domestic titles. As the Bobcats waited to be introduced they knew how hostile the crowd was going to be. They were in Lafayette, the birthplace of Louisiana hockey, playing the home town Acadiana Wreckin' Rams. Acadiana High was introduced, and now it was their moment. The arena speakers boomed, the band, who had a decent trip in just a few school buses, played the fight song as the announcer said, "Ladies and gentleman, the Bienville High School Bobcats." These societies trying to achieve utopia through technology to achieve no crime, but they both face troubles and flaws in their systems.
For this essay the two films that were chosen to compare and contrast were Inglourious Basterds and Fury. Inglourious Basterds directed by Quentin Tarantino, and Fury directed by David Ayer, are two films that take place in Europe during World War II. Both of these films depict Brad Pitt as a leader of men who are fighting for the United States trying to defeat Nazi Germany. Although both films Inglourious Basterds and Fury display the gritty, brutal, life of soldiers and civilians during World War II, but they both do it in two totally different ways. My goal in this easy is to provide examples of how both Inglourious Basterds and Fury are both similar and different at the same time.
Movies and books can be very different in many ways. The Outsiders was written in 1967 by S.E. Hinton and was later made into a movie in 1983. The movie version of the book had to cut out scenes and change things that ended up creating several differences between the two.
