“Just show me the tackle and give me some bait. Then watch me go fishing, the rest can wait.” Fishing is one of my favorite things to do. It is catching a fish for either food or simply for fun. You can do it by yourself to enjoy the peace and quiet or fish with others to pass the time. Many people think fishing is an old man's sport but I think of it differently. It has helped to form my values, most importantly patience. Since the start of time, humans have been catching fish. The sport has, in many ways, evolved hugely, and yet in many aspects has stayed exactly the same. To me fishing is unique and I find it can be anything from relaxing to a very intense experience. I could not believe I caught a fish all by myself! His proud chuckle made me proud too. I remember posing to take the picture with my dad holding my prized first fish because I did not want to touch it. The fish was humongous or so I thought until I saw the one my brother caught ten minutes later. There is something about catching fish that just gives me such an adrenaline rush and it becomes an addictive experience that I just want to try again and again. Reeling in the line and watching the fish come closer and closer makes me so excited. The good thing about fishing is that most of what you catch you can eat. For me, the joy of fishing is not remembered by the size of the fish or even by the picture we took at the end of the day. I will forever connect the joy of that day to the joy of every other fishing trip. Whether the fishing took place 7 years ago or 7 weeks ago the joy is and will still be the same.
