Charles Milles Manson was born on November 19, 1934 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Charles Manson is an American cult leader and convicted mass murderer. Manson is the son of Kathleen Maddox, who gave birth to him at the age of 16, after running away from her strict religious household. Maddox later marries a man named William Manson, and Charles keeps the last name even after his mother's short marriage. This would be the start of a very rough childhood for Charles. His mother, Kathleen, had a reputation of drinking too much and even spending some time in jail. She never presented herself as being a good mother to Manson, she seemed to not want to be a mother at all. At the age of 19, he was released from prison on good behavior. Shortly after, he married a 17 year old girl named Rosalie Willis, then they take off for California in a stolen car. Rosalie soon got pregnant and gave birth to their son, Charles Manson Jr. Manson is given probation instead of going back to prison for the stolen car. Charles Manson Jr. will later commit suicide in 1993. Manson's probation is later revoked, and he gets sent right back to prison. He later gets released in 1958, but gets sent back in 1959 for stealing mail. Manson then has another son with a woman named Leona Stevens, they name their child Charles Luther Manson. Leona later divorces Manson after his next prison sentence. Later on, in 1967, he is once again released and tells the police officials, "Oh, no, I can't go outside there...I knew that I couldn't adjust to that world, not after all my life had been spent locked up and where my mind was free." In December 1969, several members of the Manson family, including the puppet master himself Charles Manson, get arrested. The trial for the murders began in 1970, on July 24th. Although Manson never actually committed any murders himself, he was found guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder on January 25th. Then later, on March 29th, 1971, Charles Manson was sentenced to death. Manson's death penalty was later cancelled in 1972 when California's Supreme Court outlawed the Death Penalty. Manson will still spend the rest of his life in prison, and has been denied parole 12 times. Manson's next parole hearing is set to be in 2027.
