Strategies for Being a Successful Student Some of the biggest problems that students face when entering college is not knowing what aspects of learning to focus on. Students are more likely to succeed in college if they avoid procrastination, build good note taking skills, as well as study habits, and get a healthy amount of sleep. One of the biggest issues students face is procrastination. Students can address this problem by making an effort to stay up to date with all of their assignments due. One way this can be accomplished is to set aside some time daily to complete some of their studies. When students stay on top of their assignments, this does not put them in a position of having to complete everything due at the last minute. Many students will become frustrated with their assignments if the due date is approaching rapidly. Another way to become successful is to practice good note taking skills. By searching the internet, you will find there are many different techniques that can be used to become better at taking notes. Reviewing material daily, or at least two to three times a week, will allow students to easily remember material for pop quizzes and for exams. Finding a quiet place to study will allow them to concentrate more efficiently by eliminating the amount of distractions. Some students prefer to listen to music while studying, which allows them to concentrate more easily. For instance, in places like in the student library, there are many distractions. In fact, the way a student approaches their studies plays a very important role in how successful they will be at test time. If there are outside issues like relationship problems, tests, or projects in other classes, students maybe unable to focus their attention. It would be best to come back to these matters when they can be given more
