A. Explain why simply describing organic molecules as those molecules containing carbon is an insufficient definition for an organic molecule. In a separate paragraph, describe two uses for lipids in cells.

Generalizing organic molecules just as molecules that contain carbon is not a sufficient descriptor for these molecules. Though organic molecules do contain carbon, they do not solely contain carbon. Organic molecules did not originate from living things, thus these molecules have both carbon and hydrogen. (McDarby, 2009).

What penalty will you incur in this course for a violation of academic integrity?

For the infringement of academic integrity, it is compulsory for students to participate in a process that has been predetermined by his or her instructor. The student will get a score of zero on that particular quiz, exam, or paper, along with a written notification to the Dean of Undergraduate Studies in Arts and Sciences (Foundations of Biology Lab Staff, 2014).

B. On rare occasions, you will complete group assignments with your lab partner(s). How will you know whether an assignment is to be completed on your own, individually, or with your lab partner(s)? (1 pt.)

D. What sanction will be imposed by the Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences should you be caught violating academic integrity a second time? (1 pt.)

When the second offence occurs, the student and faculty can close the matter. However, the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences have the right to impose further actions. Once a student admits to wrongdoing, all sanction appeals are made in direct association with the Associate Dean (University of Pittsburgh).

E. Can you receive a penalty for providing an assignment to a friend or classmate? Explain. (1 pt.)

A student who provides aid to another, though know that help is not allowed by his or her lab instructor, will be penalized for his or her actions. As a breach of academic integrity, the student will submit a written agreement, with the signature of the instructor, to the appropriate Assistant Dean, only if he or she is allowed the chance to respond. These files will be destroyed once the student graduates or permanently terminates
